Tips to reduce watering frequency?

So got a NL auto in a 2gl pot 2 weeks into flowering. Problem is it dries out every 2 days and I can’t be bothered with what’s to come mid flower watering it every day.

So any tips on making them last a little longer?

Obviously a bigger pot would help and to raise the humidity but any other ideas?

Did cross my mind to defoliate her?

Risky, but i suppose you could water it from the bottom? Leaving a little water in the plant tray.

But a small res with drip feed, would be both safer and just as easy.

Use watering trays for plants that dry out daily, not much you can really do aside from that in my opinion. They are probably rootbound or have vegged for a long time so they have a hefty root system, usually thats an indication that they need bigger bags/need to be transplanted. Use some trays, or you could still transplant since they are just now flowering and only in 2 gallon bags. Trays are nice because they only cost 2 bucks each. But I always flower in a 5 gallon pot, even a 3 gallon would be the minimum, seeing as yield is directly proportional to the size of the bag.

I just made this. It has a dripper stake at the end. Cost me less than $8 at my local hydro shop. I used a drill, zip ties, a razor blade, black tape, a 1L pop bottle, and a hot glue gun I already had.

I use those too but I wouldn’t let my pots sit in them, I elevate them and vacuum them out.

OP should make a drip system before letting his roots sit wet imo.
Oh yeah you can remove the tray if there's water collected don't let them sit for days. That being said his plants are probably taking up alot of water and would probably soak up the remaining quickly so I wouldn't worry too much, but always keep an eye for trays with standing water. It's just good to catch the run off so they get fully watered without soaking the floor. I've never used a drip system before, got too many plants. I am curious about it though.

Tiny pots, about all u can do is add perlite and worm castings. Both slow down the rate water dissipates. Your roots are bound in those tiny pots.

They have worm castings in them. Do you mean top
Dress?

They’re not rootbound as it’s an air-pruning pot so the roots don’t circle.

This new soil I’m using is very airy too - takes water very well and basically impossible to overwater.

So the combination of big plant - well draining soil and an airy medium is causing this issue.

I know the pot is not ideal but I didn’t want a massive plant in the first place - it was just a run with some free seeds...

Big time.

Ive used them before and was aware but this new soil im using is so light and airy it drys way too fast. Even added 15% worm castings.

It just crossed my mine to duct tape up all the 100
odd air holes... think it’s an attractive option.
But then you risk root bound if the roots cant prune themselves.

U might be able to carefully put her in a bigger pot. Idk I've done it before and it worked fine but im not sure if it's proper practice .

Soil moist, silica pellets. Anyone try ? Was thinking about putting a bunch in my mix for my outdoor plants to reduce watering.
