to clone or not to clone?... thats the question.

I have some 1st gen clones I got from a buddy iv had them a little over a week. these clones have stretched quite a bit. I'm wondering if theres a time where its too early to clone as u can see the lower nodes are starting to produce shoots both plants have already been topped. if I were to clone these I would just clone the 3 larger shoots above the lower few nodes. is this too young? or should it be stable? ik the plants will survive I have a doz or so seeds but I'm in need of more plants. any advice?

They are stretched from lack of light. Once they are rooted I would top them again & let em veg under some good lighting to get some tighter nodes. Then you can clone all the tops to double your clone count

they were already rooted when he gave them to me. they had a small root ball in a yogurt cup. I transplanted em few days ago into 5 1/4 pots theyre in now. I'm in the middle of building a new grow cab so in the mean while theyre just under a couple of cfls. if u wana check out my grow journal its tittled.
new season new grow cab (floro)
u can tell me what u think. ill just wait till they get a bit bigger when the cabs done in a few weeks. meanwhile I have a doz seeds germin just.
just thought I may be able to get some more plants as well as shorten and retop these ones. thanks for the advice.

if it where me and space was an issue I would follow Rich's advice.

top and clone them. Looks like you have 3 decent available cuttings. Get the lights closer to them to get that growth under control and wait for them to branch out more before taking more cuttings.

Wait till they settle in their new homes and root out a bit before cutting or it will just slow shit right down like a prom night tease.

yeah that's what my question is should I take the 3 I have available or wait till theyre bigger?

that's what I was thinkin bc theyre young enough to not stretch too mutch ill think ill do it later tonight or possibly tomorrow.
I have some options in what substrate to reclone in I have peat moss, coir, or coir pods. ill most likely make a paste with 2 types of hormone I have. I also do have domes ill put them in. does anyone have good success with any of these substrates? I also have sterile gardening soil

A few weeks? Dude those things are gonna get huge and stretchy as hell in a few weeks. How many weeks are we talking about here? Dope plants grow fast quick man.
meanwhile I have a doz seeds germin just
And what do you plan on doing for lighting with these? Seedlings are a whole different ballgame when it comes to proper lighting. Especially a dozen of them. A seedling's main stem when it first sprouts is extremely soft and bendy. It'll also stretch like no ones business to get to proper light so it can absorb light. To the point where it'll break soil, focus on stretching it's top up and nothing else. By the time it's 3 or 4 inches it's stems too soft to hold up the top. Then it falls over and dies.
So you might wanna address this asap. They don't have a few weeks. More like 2 days after breaking soil tops. And
2 13w cool blues now
isn't going to cut it for those 2 clones and a dozen seedlings on top of that.

the 2 cfls are just for the 2 clones. I have an old micro box that will hold an additional 3 cfls for the seedlings. if need be but I just finished my cab an hour ago actually so lightings not much of an issue. I just need a new intake bc mine burned out and then I gotta invest in some yoyos bc my chains are a bitch to adjust and get some door latches other than that the cabs ready for plants.. I'm gonna run it a few days to see what the temps like with just one of my hoods then ill get them in so max 3 days. I meant maybe I would let the clones get some branching for a week or two then take multiple clones.
