To Flush or Not to Flush

Here is the deal, I will be as brief as possible. My cousin and I are debating on flushing techniques.

The Questions:

1. How often to do general flush through out the course of the vegetative and flowering process, would you recommend Fox Farm feeding schedule?
2. When to start flushing to clear nutrients before harvest?

Setup:
2x4 Grow Tent
7-Plants (Purple Wreck)
CFL -Setup 3 Lights 4-100 watt equivalent bulbs (Upgrading to MH & HPS in 2 weeks)
Medium- 50/50 Perlite and Peat Moss
Nutes- Fox Farm Trio
4 Week Veg + Flower (Approx 8 Weeks)
400 CFM Carbon filter exhaust

Me- I think we should follow Feeding techniques as stated on Fox Farm table, Follow flushing recommendations on Fox Farm table with a two week harvest flush

Cousin- He wants to Flush a couple days after each feeding with a 3 week harvest flush

Only reason to flush is if you have nutrient lockup.

i grow organic and personally i dont flush at all and my buds still smoother than most synthetic bud IMO but this is how they do it down at greenhouse if that helps. :/

I over water when its not feeding time to where water comes out of the bottom of the pot and runs down the bath tub and no I dont do it say every time BUT I will do it often to prevent nutrient lock up or build up why get to that point? It doesen hurt it it can only prevent bad things from happening please let me know if im wrong.

If you're growing organically, many people will tell you a FLUSH isn't necessary... However, if you're using synthetics, which I believe Fox Farm is (I could be wrong, don't quote me) a two week flush is exactly what I do and what I recommend.

And I'd tell your buddy that he is just going overboard on the frequency and amount of overall time you need to flush.

I grow in Coco and I only flush once through veg to prevent build up of salts from nutes, UNLESS i notice im getting a lockup or some nute burn etc etc. Other than that only time is a couple weeks before harvest when you wanna get rid of the last of the nutes in the plants....

It's a matter of personal preference. The arguments on both sides are equally compelling. You have 7 plants of the same strain - pick two very similar phenos, flush one, don't flush the other. You can then make a decision as to which side you wish to subscribe to based on your own empirical observation. That is how I reached my decision on whether I flush or not, and I now stick by my decision and always will (not saying if I flush or not - to offer ones opinion as stated fact is pointless).

Poor some Fox farm nutrients into a shot glass then pour them back into the container; let shot glass dry and look at it. You will notice that Fox farm nutrient uses a whole lot salts. I think that's why their schedule tells you to flush so often. I actually use Happy Frog soil Fox Farms nutrients and follow their schedule. I generally only flush with twice my normal watering schedule with pH water. I also my give them an extra pH water every once in a while just to make sure I break up the salts good. Check it out though Fox farms does use a whole lot salts that why I think the flushing schedule is supposed to be so often. I've been using them for about three or four months now with good results. I've only had one or two indoor harvests so far, so I'm still sort of a newb, but I do use Fox farm products with success.
