To grow for a living

This might sound ridiculous..

I hate my job. Yea who doesn't? After I graduated with a bachelor's in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, I found out it was a shitty degree. Been locked up in the office ever since. I can't stand the feeling of being institutionalized and I hate suits! I'm performing well, but all that corporate ass kissing just ain't me. I'll prolly end up depressed if I grow old doing this shit.

With that said, there's nothing more that makes me happier than growing. I'm far from an expert, but I enjoy learning everything I can to improve my skills.
I'm not looking to make bank like Tony Montana, I just want to turn my passion into a profession that pays the bills.

I'm living in a quiet country in the middle of Europe, where it's illegal, but kind of tolerated.
Ideally I would move where it's legal. Aren't there places that hire growers legally and pay decent wage?
Or cities where you can legally grow and sell to dispensaries or coffeeshops?
I also thought about moving to the Philippines as I've lived there before. There are lots of smokers but ALL u get is schwag. Like growing some fine genetics up in the mountains then distribute the goods in Manila would definitely be something... but yea, that's going to be some cartel shit and I'm not ready for that yet lol.

Without a proper plan, I will probably quit my job at some point and do something big here... risking my freedom for it. But hey at least I lived MY life.
Anyone here that can give me some tips?

Do It! Take your corporate job and save, save, save. Set aside legal funding and research everything you can about commercial grow. Obviously nothing that will bring attention, like a bypassing power or leaving holiday lighting up in the summer. There is definitely a "circle" that you would have to penetrate in order to do something like that in an established community like San Francisco, Amsterdam, or Manila. Encroaching on an establishment brings ire from existing operations, this has it's own risks other than law enforcement. Be prepared to arm yourself even if you're on a mountain side in the country, the schwag dealers are making an incredible mark up. Be prepared to use people as mules, and the risk that also involves. You have to distance yourself from the hands on distribution as much as possible. Or you could just take your love for the grow and open up a legitimate flower/nursery business which is what I would do. Too much risk for this person in what you want to do. Good Luck!

Live your life. No if you sell your soul to the man early you can build up your pensionand retire earlier. It sounds like bullshit to a twenty year old but when you are forty retirement seems closer i wish i had done more to prepare

I'm trying it now, only I haven't gotten financially comfortable enough to quit my job yet...might never happen but a man has to dream...

Pretty common to make your living from it here on the west coast. It also requires a much smaller operation to make a living in a place where it is illegal though. I have a buddy who went through law school passed his bar exam and got his license to practice then felt the same as you. He lives a comfortable life with the free time to cultivate new ideas on a 5000w grow op. Obviously he isn't greedy or have expensive taste in his lifestyle but freedom is invaluable. Laws only exists so someone else can tells us what is right and wrong. I think I will go with what I think is morally correct and live accordingly.

Yea i'm saving a lot. Do you have an idea what capital is needed to start an efficient grow op?

I know. Building a reliable network within the scene will be very important. I know a grower from around here with whom sometimes smoke with, exchange samples and just talk about growing in general. He might be in a circle but i havent really brought up my interest in this business to him yet. He's a bit secretive with his grow op but i'll see what happens.

I def have a good network in Manila when it comes to distribution. However growing in the mountains could be much more challenging, thats a whole other game. Growing outdoors, next to strange local farmers... I'm sure somebody has to get paid for protection too. Maybe i could try to stay out of sight. This whole idea is much more risky, but possible even more rewarding.

Man, I would love to move to the west coast.

Please elaborate...You're friend operates a 5000w op to pay the bills? Does he grow for a dispensary?
Do you need a license to grow?

There is nowhere that it is "legal" to grow i think Uruguay is looking into making it legal at the moment there are some places where weed has been decriminalised and some that turn a blind eye but that's as good as it get's at the moment

Yea I heard about Uruguay.
However I was thinking of those sophisticated grow facilities they show on High Times. Thats some serious investment for something thats not even completely legal.
Apparently the coffee shops in Amsterdam are supplied by growers in Spain. A lot of Seed Breeders are from there also. I assumed it must be legal there as well.

Anyway, legal or decriminalised... I'm just looking for the best options around the globe.

legal in some counties of Switzerland now to have up to 4 plants. decriminilized in a few other places. i live in central america and find that it is so much easier to grow here than in the U.S. you don't have hydro stores anywhere so you order everything from the States; usually stock up. there just is no sophistication to the law enforcement here so it's basically impossible for them to detect a grow. the utility companies are clueless as well. i've run quite a few grows in my 8 years here in Costa Rica; and even a few large ones too (8,000w+ flower rooms) and to be honest, i've never been worried about being caught. as long as you don't tell ANYONE (people here love to talk) you'll be fine. plus, there's isn't much a couple bucks can't get you out of. lol.

the great thing about here is the cost of living is so low. plus, you are only a 2 hour flight from Miami. lot of other plus' to Costa Rica. may not be for everyone but it sure works for me. there is a reason that Costa Rica is constantly at the top of lists like happiest country in the world; highest quality of living; U.S. retirement destinations; etc..

Portugal all drugs have been decriminalised, Spain i've heard of smoking clubs or a type of coffeeshop but the real money would be to grow where it's still ilegal unfortunately

Yes you are correct to a point, the Swiss are allowed to grow 4 plants without announcing it (whatever that is meant to mean) BUT the THC must not exceed 0.3% it's a start but 0.3% THC you may as well smoke rope lol
