To grow in a tent or use the entire room

Disadvantages.
You must combat heat. That is the worst problem I encountered in a tent.
I used one for 3 months, bad decision. Toouch energy used cooling it.
Grow in the room. The plants will thank you for it.

Best thing I've ever done for my grow was to section off an area dedicated to bloom phase. I still use tents for vegging but lower wattage lighting makes it easy to keep cool.
I used framing, plywood, and reflective black and white plastic sheeting (some call it panda film) to line the walls and lightproof everything. Larger spaces are easier to maintain temps but you can also lose reflectivity at a certain point so you need to compartmentalize somewhat to help distribute the light....if that's even a word but you get the idea

Use the room to veg, use the tent to bud ur plants

plants and man never have enough room ...lol

good luck
This leads me to my next question. Should i get a metal halide bulb instead of using my hps the whole grow. The grow shop manager told me all i needed was a hps the whole grow. Apparently hps keep the plants shorter and stockier. Is this any good?

as u type that I type this ...lol

Mh kicks out cool white light at about 6500 kelvin thats good for horizontal growth

HPS kicks out warm white, at about 2700k, great for vertical growth

thats why its best to use both lights or light colors in veg

you get a 'balanced' plant

the choice is yours...but COB(diy) are moving in fast

good luck

Ive always gone with a mh for veg and a hps for bloom. I just thought i could get out cheap lol. O well...

Have any of you guys ever used a ozone generator to kill the smell in ur grow spaces. I know they can be toxic at high concentrations to humans but i dont think they kill the plant or degrade the trics at all. Just lookin to atay safe with the unknown neighbors

check out the 315 lec i switched from hps to the 315 ceramic and I used it in both veg and flower. Heat was a lot less than a 1000hps and the light is about the same as a 600hps IMHO.

For what it is worth I went from a full flower room with 3 1000hps to a 4' x 2' tent. I would not go back to my HPS I would buy more 315lec

I am not sure about the tent vs room. The tent works but temps can be an issue. The reflective walls are nice though.

The comment about cutting holes in walls and ducting and hanging lights can be an issue.
