You can use light or not, it's a judgement call.

I use 24 / 0 light until they break surface.
Then I switch to 18 / 6 (veg) or 12 / 12 (direct flowering) depending on my time constraints :joint:

na, you dont want any more than 30 w per plant first couple weeks once roots tapp.
heating pad while germing, or in rockwool. is key.
you shouldnt have a prob. no 1k light though. lol ive killed some bitches like that.

the light gives it warmth.Like the sun. But in the summer time you don't need it usually cuz its hot as hell already. Also keep direct light off the rockwool, Or else algae will start to grow after a while

LED's dont put off heat for shit, you want the tray water to be like 60 degrees for the first couple days. let the enzymes in the outer shell start to do there thing.

Are you controling the pH? and the EC?
How about the water, which kind of water are you using?
Are you adding nutes yet?
Yellowing of leaves can be many things but it's most often Natrium defiency.

well stock water from my faucet :( so ya lol dumb question if I buy one of the water filters would that be ideal for my water? The $20 ones that usually set in your fridge, with a sprocket to release water?

I have been giving the plants a 1/3 nutrients of Basic Grow and micro nutrients from Hydroponix

It's probably a pH issue then.
When you use tapwater the pH is not as easily controlled as with RO water (reverse osmosis).
There will also be minerals present in the tap water which affects your plants (on top of the nutes you have added).

pH is essential to control to give your plants optimum conditions.
If I remember correctly the best pH range for hydro is 5.5 - 6.1 (some say 6.2) and for soil it's a bit higher, can't remember the exact numbers but they can be found by a simple search.
