so im in the 1st week of flowering some red diesel plants from barneys farm and one of the plants is not getting as thick. the fan leaves are massive on this plant all thruout the whole plant. so do i trim some of these leaves or tuck them away under other leaves?

trim only the biggest leaves that shade out others....another possibility would be to get a few cfls to add extra light, that way you need not cut away leaves. put them all around your buds, as close as 6 inches away(assuming you have adequate ventalation )

the more light that reaches your buds...the better.. just remember that. but also, remember those leaves are lifelines

Your next post says "remember those leaves are life lines" So why do you give the above advice?:o

well what are you using for reflection on the walls? i would think with those lights u got and some good reflectors around ur grow room it should be enough light to get every especially if u just tuck some fans out the way.

not great 1st gro jus ordered some nice lights for the occasion but jus using tin foil on the walls pretty much all but i got the mh on the ground covering the lower part of the plant and the hps on top and we rotate them but i can see a sig difference between the one wit the really big fan leaves and the ones with thinner leaves buds way more developped already

well that could be an issue but even that doesnt cause 2 plants to be lookin really good and the other somewhat underdevlloped not that its not looking good jus not as good and the fan leaves are all bigger than my hand and the other ones are not as big

Light getting directly to your buds wont get you big buds... lots of fan leaves going into flower will. The more fan leaves the plant retains throughout its flowering cycle, the more energy it will be able to extract from the light, which will make bigger buds. Never trim a green leaf.
