I hear ya brother, but some folks just fail under the stress and human tragedy of such a scene. Many of those around us have never actually experienced/viewed such a traumatic event and the biggest and baddest often fail when faced with reality. My point, don't chose to be a hero and hinder the situation, but come only when willing and able.

And my point was heroes don't know they are, they don't try. They just do what they do and it's heroic. We're all heroes to somebody, kids wives family parents just don't be wavered by the acts of cowards. like Murphy said real Americans are heroes. Nurses go to work without capes or thinking "I'm going to be a hero today". KV just wanted to run she had no plans of being a hero. The people who ran in to the blasts yesterday didn't do so thinking "I'm going to be a hero" surely they thought nothing but FELT they had to go that way toward the screams to help any way they could. Lift the heroes and forget the cowards, give them no press, pay them no mind, give them no attention. they do not deserve it hiding in their hole watching CNN silently patting each other on the back. They have done nothing but expose more heroes from ordinary people and show they are a drop in the ocean of good people.

I was reading an article yesterday about several runners that crossed the finish line and kept running right up to the hospital to donate blood.
I think we start to get numb to all of this violence around us. I try to focus on the good people and the acts of compassion when stuff like this happens. It restores my faith in humanity.

People who do things like this should be executed on prime time television. I bet that would change the mind of a would be attacker if they knew the outcome. Kill all of theses cowards. No trial...

sadly it would not. Martyrs would LOVE prime time. turn away from the cause, attention is all they want. want to stick it to them? Run Boston next year. They want A I give them B.

My guess would be that next years marathon will be the biggest on record, or at least I hope so.

I found it odd that HLS came out yesterday stating that this bombing is not part of a larger mission as LEO desperately seeks leads. I have seen pictures of the expended IED, but no mention of it's initial placement. I am getting a bad feeling about federal incompetence and hope the facts will not get buried as in Libya or distorted as in Fort Hood

Initial placement.... from what I heard they were put in trash cans in black either gym bags or back packs. There was a second bomb sweep by dogs minutes before the first runners crossed the line. Someone slipped it in during the next couple hours while other racers finished. I have a feeling its a domestic group (anarchists or militia types).

The FBI are our ace forensic and profiling experts. Although the politics there acknowledged pre 9-11 caused the establishment of Homeland Security. In recent years the politics brought into HLS is disturbing

They were talking about that a lot on NPR. Most outdoor events mailboxes are screwed shut or removed, manhole covers screwed down, trashcans taken out etc....
I think where the distinction for the Boston race is the circumstances of a marathon itself and being 26 miles long. (I think thats the length in Boston) But you are right they shouldn't have been at the finish line but I think it still would of happened trash cans or not. The trash cans just added a little security from being seen and extra shrapnel besides that though its not needed.
Only time will tell hopefully.
