They are Trichomes, a fancy Latin word that means little hairs. However I dont think they are the kind that are loaded with oil like the ones on Catnip or Cannabis.

I looked into this once and the Trichomes on tomato plants may have DMT in them.

Tomatos are related to the Belladonna plant, a potent hallucinogen.
