yeah, I've seen strains where the hairs were still fairly white, but the plants were anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks into flowering.

once you check the trichs, they're cloudy and some amber.

They say that, if you don't go by the trichs.. you can always wait until the hairs start to wilt. Once they start to wilt.. she's in her prime and its

time to go ahead and chop. I would still recommend watching your trichs.. but some people still go until they see hairs beginning to wilt. Then

they harvest.

Nice subject for once too.. ;) Thanks. Good question.

peace.

Actually trichs changing colors is a chemical process "decarboxilization" fancy word for drying. It is very much a biochemical process of the plant and not strain specific. Trichome size and shape are strain specific, this is why sativas will have longer thinner trichomes where Indicas will have shorter and fatter trichomes. Certian Indica varities were actually developed strictly to make hash with due to their specific trichome structure.

The turning from clear to milky to amber has nothing to do with the strain, just the actual chemical process. Just as in the same way the longer you go to harvest the higher levels of CBD and CBN and as soon as trichomes are turning amber, you are actually degrading the THC at that point but you will be increasing the CBD and CBN.
i should have worded that diffrent. is said they will "stop", they will slow dramatically, and what you say is very much true but IMO each strain does all these chemical processes slightly diffrent. thus making the amber-cloudy ratio diffrent between strains when the buds are fully ripe. and in all honesty, any body that is growing for quality is trying to get CBC and CBN, along with other chemicals that form from waiting longer to harvest. just my opinion. everybody looks at harvest time from a diffrent perspective.

Yeah I've read some about how and when certain Cannabinoids form in the bud. the CBCs and Ns are good for a certain high and will be more potent if you give it that extra time to dry/ripen while still flowering, where as I'm pretty sure the actual THC degrades when you wait for this extra long ripening period.

It ALL depends on YOUR pref of bud/high or if you're a caretaker, research your patient's condition (or they can do it if they are able) and figure out the bud that best suits their conditions.

Because yes, diff strains will give you many many different traits but there are soooooo many variables with just growing cannabis in general. Some good and bad, some just left up to personal pref.

Google some shit or somethin I don't remember every last detail about how/when certain cannabinoids form so you'd be better off lookin it up
yourself.

cheers!
