Too bushy?

I am not one who ever defoliates in flower. I top twice after I see 6 nodes in veg....then again about a week later to try and get 4 colas. I do light defoliation 1 week before flip then typically leave them unmolested til harvest. This is my first run with these blue mystic clones I got. I used the above technique exactly. Total veg time was about 6 weeks. These pictures are exactly 7 days since flip. I have 6 total that all look alike under two 600w hps and using 4ft t5 flouros as sidelights. I tried a suggestion from this forum and have alternating 3000k and 6500k bulbs in the t5s. I have never had bushes like this. I'm pretty confident the advice will be to continue as usual and not trim but just wanted to ask others opinions to he sure.

I'd be trashing the T5's for now not enough penetration at this stage the plants are needing that light that they think is the light of Fall..autuem .ie..2700 kelvin
these pics for me show excess (N) come late bud will go very yellow is no biggy as the plant consumes the leaves contents

be ready for that

Thanks for the advice....I agree the t5s are most likely overkill....was kind of expirementing is all. I also switched to a new nutrient line from the general hydro line to remo. I removed the "grow" at the flip which was primary source of N, however, looking at the bloom, astroflower, and micro....some of those have N as well. Do you suggest cutting some of those as well...I didn't want to reduce their primary sources of P and K going into bloom I didn't think.

That would be a mistake. I'd get the green grow formula back in the mix. Never cut your grow formula at the start of flower, your plant needs that nitrogen. The old wive's tale in weed is to cut grow formulas out in favor of flower formulas but that's bunk.

These plants were flower with pure blend pro grow hydro formula only and they had better flavor than when I used to switch to low nitrogen formulas.

I'm not sure how an excess of N could turn into the plant going very yellow. I don't see any sign of excess N anyway.

And the natural sunlight during flowering isn't anywhere near 2,700°k. For most of the day it's white light. As far as using t5's for supplemental lateral lighting and mixing up cool and warm tubes in the same fixture those are both some of the best practices.

So you wouldn't have stopped the grow? I was following the Remo nutes guidelines exactly. They remove the grow formula at flip and add the bloom along with their micro, astroflower, magnical, and kelp. Like I said a few of those have N in them that wasn't present in their veg feeding guidelines. So confusing....lol

Agreed, the usual advice is to keep using your veg at normal rates for about halfway through the stretch then 50/50 veg/flower for the second half before going to full bloom.

If that's the recommendation of the brand and you're using their full line than what we're talking about is probably accounted for and you should just continue using it according to their instructions.

Thanks for the advice....I thought I was on a pretty good path...I guess everyone has different ideas....I felt they looked pretty healthy and as stated in my post above the suggested nute formula at the flip changed the N content a bit anyway. As far as the sidelight....certainly can't hurt...and as you said a number of people spoke highly of the practice.

Thanks! Yes I'm using full line....not skipping anything. Only thing besides their line I use is hydroguard....I've always had good success with root zone using that....so I kept that in my schedule.

I go by my own ratios. I've been growing for 15 years and trail and error has lead me to my current mix. I never cut out nitrogen and in fact when I switch to flower with grow formulas my taste and flavors got better but that is also because I started using about 1/4-1/3 of the recommend dosages throughout all the grow.

Like I said that plant and the others I posted got zero bloom formula. I only used this and only at a rate of 1 maybe 2 teaspoons per gallon in heavy late flower, ppms were around 600-700. Plants were 3ft tall, in Tupur mix under a 600w hps. No flower formula or nothing.

And the plants aren't too bushy in my opinion they look nice!

I always appreciate others suggestions....every grow is more education and tweaking. I may consider trying to condense my nutrient recipe in the future...gets a bit much with the current 6 or 7 formulas I mix currently...lol. I've been doing this off and on for over 10 yrs but never had the confidence to create my own feeding recipes...so for the time being I've been sticking to commercial formulas. I do know they are in it for the money so it wouldn't suprise me if it was.overkill.

I would stick to reading the advise from the label..

but using many labels is difficult decide which label...

having considerable experience over the noobi advice offered

I'd be advising to consider organics next grow after a 10 year run with these bottles sewages

it would most definitely show in the taste lol

Are you suggesting organic nutes in current hydro setup or soil organics? I know it seems backwards but for some reason soil is intimidating to me. Probably just because all my experience has been with hydro and I can't even grow a tomato outside in soil...lol!

Actually what I use is a typical drip ring system. I have 6 of these units in flower and I take clones right before flip and run 6 in veg. in separate closet. All 12 are connected to one commercial size air pump with 12 outlets enabling me to run air line to each unit using just one large pump instead of 12 small ones.

I like this better than one common resevoir as you can handle each plant separately whether it's for different growth rates or different issues on a plant.
