Too close?

I have a 2' 4 light t5. I think it's 96 watts. I was wondering if keeping it 4 or 5 inches above the dome is too close? Thanks for the help.

Sorry, didnt realise i was so vague. But I haven't done it yet. But it would be for fresh cut clones in rockwool or rapid rooters. In a humidity dome. With the stand I built I can get the light about 4 or 5 inches above the dome. Maybe just a touch more. I'm just wondering if its gonna be too much light for some fresh cuts.

No matter what anyone tells you check the heat. you can do it with the inside of your arm. I use 40w tubes and go about 2" but they can grow right into them with out hurting at all. I like to keep clones right around 80.

Thanks for the info. I have some clones in a makeshift bubble cloner in rockwool, but its been 10 days with no roots showing. They're not dead but I was thinking about doing a few in the dome also just incase. I just put my plants into flower a few days ago so I know I can still take more.

And I'll definately check the temp in the dome. I just wasn't sure if it would be way too much light for them to handle right away.

As long as the heat is alright, your plant will be great! The closer the light the better, just make sure it's no more than about 90 F.

Also, a good circulation can do a lot to reduce the heat of the lights.

Thanks again for the replies. If heat is the only worry, then that's not a problem I can put a fan on the light if need be. I've read about people using just a couple of small cfl's to light up their clones. Just wanted to make sure more light wasn't going to effect them negatively.

Imo temps are everything. if I can keep everything right at 80 the bubble cloner is great. I've had roots start in as little as 48hr.

4-5" above the dome sounds good if were talking about a standard 7" dome. Ive had no problems at that hieght with 92w of cfl in a hood. for temp through a gauge in the dome if theres room, I prefer my mondi mini greenhouse hydrometers. They mount right into any dome there slick.

Yeah, it's a 7" dome. And it's a T5 light. I think each bulb is 24 watts so its a total of 96 watts. And I'll definately throw a temp gauge in there. Thanks for all the info.

I don't think you can have to much light can you? To much heat sure but to much light? IDK. I'm just imagining half a dozen 1000 watters hanging over the same plant but with heat not being an issue. Again IDK but I am wicked stoned.:peace:
