too cold to too hot problem

I currently live in southern california. I am running a flood and drain system for my plants, and my mother is in 7 gallons of coco coir. About a week ago my plants recived a good amount of stress after the temps in my garage dropped for the mid 60s to 39 degrees. This happened for 3 straight days. Now I know you are wondering why I dont have a tent, and the reason be is the $$$$. Plants began to turn purplr and looked stressed. My friend's buddy was generous enough to lend me a grow tent so I can fix my cold problem. For the first few days all the temps were very great in the room. I ran a fan above my hps light on high tocool everything down.I had to partially keep the top open so the temps would never go above 82. However, I decided to completely zip the tent up and wait 2 days to see what happened. The temps rose to about 94 degrees. I know I wasnt too smart not using my CFM fan to cool the light, but at the time I didnt have enough tubing to go from the holes to the light hood. Again, my friend's buddy was cool enough to lend me some extra tubing and now I am back down to a constant 72-74. The question I have is, how bad did I stress my plants going from so cold to so hot???The plants in my grow are skunk #1, G 13 x hash, White Widow, and a Purple Alien OG grown from seed
