Too early to FIM?

I want to FIM my plant but I'm not entirely sure if it's old enough or where to cut. The top "node"/cola/whatever is lower down than the next highest node so it's kind of hard to get to... should I wait until that node grows and then FIM? Or can I go ahead? It's just looking like a clusterfuck at the top lol.

Here are some pics... I honestly don't know how old it is at this point. 4 weeks maybe? I just switched from 24/0 to 12/12 because I'm growing in a very small space and really just want to see if it's a female or if I'm wasting my time. :? Thanks!

Well, when I say "just", I really mean it's been on 12/12 for 24 hours. :P I mean this is my first "grow" (literally 1 plant lol) so I have no idea what I'm doing really, but I doubt switching it back to veg at this point would stress it just because it's been such a short amount of time.

Put it back to veg light cycle.
After you have 5 true leaf sets, top above the 2nd true node.
Keep it alive.
Then train the 4 mains out.
Put your seatbelt on !!
Its a hoot.
It really is that simple.
Hardest thing is the "Keep it Alive/Green" thing.
That comes in time.:peace:
Good Luck.

Here's a cool side effect of this hobby of ours.
Try any single stem plant.
Lets say Basil.

Do the the above mentioned procedure and see what happens a few weeks later.
I owe a huge Thanks to Uncle Buck.

Ive been growing veggies for 30+ years, and this year I topped every single stem plant we grow.
My wife came to me and asked what the flipping F did I do to cause the explosion of Growth.
Its a good thing.

I was taught that u don't FIM until u have at least 5 nodes. And it looks like u have that so return them to veg for a week and FIM away

Excuse my inexperience but what method of fiming is this?
I've read to cut off around 75% of the new growth at the top.

Can anyone possibly show on one of my pictures how low down/where to cut? I switched back to veg but I'm still too scared to cut it.. lol

If you cut right at that Red line within 2/3 days you'll get two new shoots where the green lines are. Thats what I'd do anyways

This is what it should look like within a couple days. notice the two new shoots in the center.

This is where you fim, if you cut lower then you top. To fim you must cut 80% of the top. It's not so difficult neither so easy that's why it's called fim (fuck i missed).. good day sir
