too many plants

I have 5 plants growing in a small 12" pot, each plant is about 3 weeks old and need more space. How should I go about doing this or should I keep them together and just use a bigger pot.

you already made a bad mistake man. you shouldnt ever put two plants in the same pot... let alone 5. you should try and transplant them i think before all the roots intertwine. just my advice

are they all females or bagseeds? if bags seeds seperate them because you know what males cause and you may have one or two. if all females plant in a very large container like tupperware tubs and enjoy your ladys. my friend made that same mistake , but glady they are all female and beautiful.

I would go with this solution only because separating plants always causes more root damage than simply puting the whole dirt ball into a larger container.

No, it's not too late to separate them - just let the dirt soak in a large container for a while, and it will come apart.

Then, gently separate the root systems from each other, and transplant.

I do it all the time on my outdoor veggies because I throw like ten seeds into each pot.

Just be gentle and you'll be fine.

I hate to be a pain but I'm a beginner and have put time into these little beauties. I don't really understand the method your discribing although it makes perfect sense the process is still unclear.

Thanks

Take the entire rootball(s) out of the pot.

Soak in your sink or somewhere else with lots of water, and gently run water over it to slowly but surely remove the dirt.

After doing this for a few minutes, there will only be root matter left and some random pieces of dirt caught up in the roots.

When you've gotten to this point, very, very gently, pull the root systems apart, and then transplant them into their own containers.

If a couple of them tear it's no big deal, just don't go at it like a wrestler with a phone book.

Lemme know if that makes sense or if you're still a little confused.
