Too many problems

Hi all. My 1st post, avid reader.

Well I have three on the go (unknown defferent species) all female. Approx 5 months old now. Grew from seed. No experience and its my 1st grow.
My setup is very cheep. I live in Czech republic so the climate is not the greatest. Im not using any equipment apart from the sun and water. No nutrients or additives. Very much an organic grow(just too see if could).

My first problem is all my plants are in their flowering phase (approx 8wks 1-5% pistols have turned) They arn't very big or bushy but i wasn't expecting them to be. I only expect approx 10-20g when dry MAX. I have been away for a while and returned to discover Spider mites had eaten the lower half of 1 plant but hadn't infected the others.

WHAT SHOULD I DO? Chop it down even tho the good part remains and pistols havn't turned or continue with the grow? I have bought some mite killer wich is not poisonus to the plant. (There is some good grow shops here now with the change in the law)

My second and more pressing problem is I think (researching) 1 of my plants has developed into a hermaphrodite.... It has started to produce little light yellow banana sacks filled with dust(pollen) I have tried to remove very carefully. I dont see any grape ball sacks hanging but I have found 1 calyx with a nearly formed seed. And also on another plant. only 1 seed on both. But I suspect the damage might already have been done to all the plants.

If I have to get rid I dont mind as This is a learning experiment before I GO hardcore for a full indoor setup grow. (gets minus 25 here in winter but plus 30 most of spring summer).

Ill incude some pics to check out. hope you cand give me some nice advice.

Thanks to all who help.

If you could get some close ups of the hermie plant and the pistols/sacks that might be on it that would help a lot. Also it looks like your plants are awfully big for their pots. Being you are doing it organically you want to have room for the roots to grow as your aren't adding nutrients. With you not adding nutrients and if the plants get root locked they won't do much in the line of good bud.

imo the spider mites are your most pressing issue, not the hermie. Can't help with remedies because I've never had them, but I see posts about them here from time to time, so a search will probably yield solutions to your infestation.

Hermies I can speak more too. It really depends on how bad it is. Most of the hermies I have experience with are just small parts of the plant. Maybe one node pops out a bunch of balls, or a few nodes do, but it's been few enough that I just remove those portions of the plant, and leave the rest to bud, and it works pretty well. I had one plant once which was given to me. Guy swore up and down that it was cloned from an AK47 mother. He was either mistaken, or it was a full on hermie because the thing basically was male. Nothing but balls, didn't ever see a pistil on the whole plant, and finally pulled it a few days before I thought pollen would fly.

Rollbluntz pointed out probably the second most important thing about your setup after taking care of the mites, don't neglect what he said :)

You have some sativas there, give them at least another 4 to 5 weeks, IGNORE the little popcorn buds on the bottom, their leaves are not important nor are those buds. Those top buds look like any good sativa at 4 or 5 weeks into flower, you just need to be patient. GET those spider mites under control!!! You can fill a large trashcan full of water and hold the plants upside down underwater for a few minutes each to drown the adults and then do again when the babys hatch. Or find some NEEM oil. Move the hermie plant away from the others or you will get seeds in all your plants.

PS: Dont give up, at the VERY LEAST just do what your doing for another few weeks if the plants will let you, keep us updated with pictures.

Hi all thanks for all the replys. Well the progress report is as follows. The mites have almost all gone, I used some chemical and the dunking in water method. My hermie has given birth to 1 complete seed but I have removed some of the other growing seeds. I cant see anymore bananna pollen sacks on any plants and the pistols are approx 10percent turning brown. I hadn't given up and I presume about another 3-5weeks before harvest. The weather is starting to turn cold here, no major sunshine for approx 2weeks, so a little worried on that front as I have no indoor lighting.

When should I start the harvest process? When approx 60-80% of pistols have turned or sooner. The majority are still white with lots of sticky trichromes. I havent got a powerfull magnifier to see in too much detail.

Cheers

Hey another quick post but rather pressing.
I took a small lower bud from my hermie plant and cut it up a bit to see how it is. When disected there was three formed seeds in the bud..... Question is I presume the dual sexuality of my plant has done its work my female is now producing seeds. My other eplant is starting to show similarities but anothe is not showing anything but bud. Should I harvest now before its too late to get any thc because of seed production or just keep it going?

Thanks

Hey buddy looking good, give them girls another 2 weeks, at this point the mites are going to have problems spreading on those thin whispy resinous leaves. You should be able to make it . Dont worry about pistil color. although all red and shriveled may indicate your close to done. Those trichs are still clear . Let those bad boys milk up. You should start getting "foxtails" any day. "buds growing out of the sides of buds". The girls look great. + rep for surviving the battle of the borg.

The diff in potency if you pull now and wait another 2 weeks will be huge. Also you should get a few more grams of weight each week you let her ripen. She looks like a cheese i grew in a window sill , very airy calyx formation but covered in trichs. Was in quarantine with a few spider mites when it had a month left to flower. So the buds didnt get as big or dense as they would have under my hps. Still tasty smoke just burns fast=D The mites couldnt get anywhere to feed and pretty much died off on their own with a lil Neem here and there.
