too much light to sprouts?

When your crops first sprout out of the soil and are 1-4 inches tall with their first 1-2 sets of leaves, is direct light too strong for them? I heard a few people say that putting them in direct sunlight would burn them up or kill them, and that they should be put under weak lights for awhile. I ask because I have 5 plants about 6 days since germination, one has 1 set of leaves, 2 have 2 sets, and another 3 are still sprouting. Only 1 of the 5 has shedded its seed shell. I put them in direct sunlight since they germed, and right now they're under a 400W MH at a constant 24 hrs. Is it too early to give them that kind of light?

I dont think a 400w lamp is too much for them. Just keep em away from the bulb so they dont burn. If your going to put them outdoors under full sun I would wait until they are a little bigger and gradually introduce them to natural sunlight.
