hey whats goin on everybody, so it's been raining quite a bit here these past few day and a full week of this shit to go, what can i do to protect my babies? i've done all i can as far as mounding soil around them so the water does not pool up around them but im still worried that its just way to much water comming down, and the ground is so saturated now i'm affraid they might drown. how much is too much? they are in the ground so i obviously cant move them. what can i do? anyone have any suggestions? i'd appreciate any input, thanks.

i feel your pain on this one, since im a farmer the rain really fucks us sometimes too...last year we had a 90 acre field of corn and almost half of it was under 3-6 inches of water for about a month. really the only thing you can do is try to direct the water away from your plant as much as possible, mounds like you've already done and also dig some ditches/trenches. good luck, sorry to hear about the weather.

edit: just thought of something, get a tarp and cut a whole in the middle of it, put the tarp over your plant with the plant stickin out thru the whole you cut....so basically you are just covering the ground from the rain, a little rain will get in thru the hole but it will stop the ground around the plant from getting anymore saturated.

good idea, but too obvious, i live in a suburban nieghborhood and im growing im my back yard, pretty openly not much cover except the 2in balasters on my floating deck, my only real protection from everyone is some trees surrounding my yard, and the fact that i live in the end of a culda-sac so my nieghbors are kind of facing at angles away from eachother

ah, yeah the tarp wouldnt work then. well you could still dig some trenches so at least the majority of the water will flow away from the plant.
