Top 10 Important Things to Own/Know about Growing

#1 = When you think you have enough light, add more.

#2 = PH is VERY important

#3 = You must learn, and use, a proper watering routine.

#4 = Learn to 'read' you plants, rather than wondering why something that is working for another grower, isn't working for you. There's waaaay too many variables for a universal solution.

#5 = Temperatures are important, both day and night, but have some leeway to work with, as long as it isn't too extreme.

#6 = Humidity is similar to temps, and also has some leeway to work with.

#7 = Light leaks are the #1 cause of hermies, so don't push it or you're asking for trouble.

#8 = Aside from the growing medium, it's the size and health of a plant that determines it's fert requirements, not it's age.(like the "start feeding at 3 weeks" rule that I hear so often)

#9 = Keep as much ventialtion running, as you can. The more the better, unless you get carried away.

And last but not least.......

#10 = Make decisions for yourself. If you hear 10 different solutions to a problem, take all that info in, and use what you decide is the most logical/likely solution, in your situation. There are very few 'universal solutions', so you need to be able to decide what'll work best for you, and test it yourself and take notes.(mentally or physically) Trust no one, and only accept their words as guidance, then apply them in whichever way works best for you, and your grow op. :)

Okay, that's enough for now.LOL

1. EC truncheon. So you know exactly how much you're feeding them.
2.PH tester. If the PH is wrong you're plants won't grow properly and will end up hating you.
3. Reliable timers. Even small changes in light cycles will affect your plants.
4. Quality power boards/extension cords. Light failures, fire etc.
5. A good strain. Genetics are everything.
6. Ventilation. Constant fresh air is a must.
7. Quality proven nutrients. You get what you pay for.
8. Stealth. Don't tell anybody.
9. HID grow lights less than 4 cycles old. Old bulbs are useless.
10. Knowledge. Without it your screwed. Ask questions, read books, watch tutorials, join RIU.

I'm sure I missed a lot but thats all I could come up with. bongsmilie

Smoke detectors & a decent fire extinguisher, better safe then sorry.

Timers, Had a buddy run more then 6 months where he had to be home every 12 hours to turn lights on and off. This is impractical and bound to effect yields even if you avoid hermies.

the number one mistake most new growers make is overwatering. wait until your media is close to dry before watering!
