Top Cola Falling Over

Hey All,

The top cola bud fell over on my plant due to excessive weight... (she's HUGE!) How can i fix this problem? I'm thinking of tying some rope to hold it up, but afraid it will damage the bud, any ideas or suggestions?

Go to your local home depot or lowes, and in the garden section they will have packages of 3' bamboo stakes. They also have plastic coated wire designed to tie tomato plants to stakes. Just stick one of these bamboo stakes in your pot, and use the wire ties to sucure to it.

silica helps avoid breakage and is used throughout the grow as an additive to nutrients

Just get some popsicle sticks and make a brace, tie above and below the break. Should be fine. If it works you need to send me half though ;) JK :)

Sorry but that bud is not dense enough to haul a normal stem over. You have signs of K and P deficits as well as Ca+. Your stems have suffered from it. You either did not feed enough or you had a pH level that kept the plant from taking in enough of those elements for good stem development. Still, prop it up by whatever means. Consider adding silica next time as suggested by another poster above as well.

Kinda looks like mine, multiple problems, but until I get a RO machine.....

But yeah, tie them up. Loose but secure knots, on the branches and main stalk.

Good luck

You guys that have the wimpy stems consider using silica adds to your soil next grows. It is not a "quick" uptake so using it from the start is cheap and easy. Especially if you are going for a big bud-type plant.

it sounded like you were saying "falling over" not snapped in half, my bad. but silica will help avoid and then obviously tieing up before it breaks. this late in a snap should just be cut off

Good call! I've been having a bit of calcium issues since its development. I guess its caught up to me near the end. Will try silica for my next grow. But my question is, how is silica applied to the plant? Thanks!

zoslick , you can buy bungees in the future and these will keep your buds up , also taking the strain off the stems. Have been told that they buds fatten up even more when using them.
