Toppin a plant

Okay so this is my 2nd time flowering now. I just harvested my first. Now I need to top this plant. Its not the top cola thats needs to be topped. It is more of a side branch that needs to be topped. The light has already burnt some of that one region. So i need to top it, but I do not know how. I grew this one too damn big for the box, being well beyond 3 feet. Oh and the plant that I want to top has been under an HPS for about 2 weeks or so, and has been showing buds for about a week.

Oh on a side note, my plants need fert, but i dont have distilled water, is it okay just to mix it with tap water? Whats up with that?

topping at this stage can stress out plant s,better to try bend or tie branch down away from light.what nutes you giv n,

No I have been. But its just now they need some more but im out of distilled water and was wondering if i could use with tap water in order to fert the flowering plants?

ave you way to check ph,my part of the world tap water is good and al i use.
