Topping at 2nd node for 4 tops

Hi guys. Since Uncle Bens tutorial has no pics anymore I just wanted some clarification.

Is this the correct node too top for 4 main colas. Also would topping below give you only 2.

Fuck topping if you only want to do one cut and get as many tops as you can, you should use the F.I.M technique, I always get between 8 and 12 tops from just one cut or better yet do some LST and you'll be golden, I got 10 tops on the one pictured below....Btw I fim at the fourth node.IMG_20150530_144021.jpg

I see 6 branches (potential tops) coming off your main stem. By topping, you now have two new "mains" at the top of the stem, instead of one. You could then top those two new "mains" at the top to get four new "mains" in a few days (depends on growth). Up to you whether you want to keep those branches below your two new mains or not. I would cut the branches off below your two new "mains", but keep all the fan leafs on.

Yeah i used to top but to be honest you may aswell just fim, less stress and recovery time on the plant and better yields i find. The canopys grow nice and even with just one fimming.

Thanks guys. Thats not actually my plant. Imagine the internodal length on that when it stretches. Anyway im also one for topping, seems a more exact science. But just too reiterate the question im just checking which nodes best to top for 4 main colas.

oh yeah! It looks like the top two branches have already been topped for four already (as long as it's the same on the left side too). Didn't notice that before. IMO, cut off all growth (branches) below the 4 new mains, but leave the fans leafs on.

I top after the third node, counting from the first set of true leaves, or after the first set of 5 leaves comes in, depending on the strain.

image.jpg image.jpg I tried that topping technique, and literally used the bottom 4. Wished I had picked 4 strong branches instead, cuz the plant was on its 7th or so node when I finally cut it. So after being pissed at myself I decided to experiment with it a bit. first pic was a bit after topping, and the second was about 5 days after switching to 12/12. The other plants I just LST'd so curious to see the difference. This is only my second go around, so I'm learning as I go. Nice looking plant you got going! Good luck!

I feel that topping is actually more traumatic to be honest. youre cutting the whole main stem completely off whereas with fim you arent. also, fim takes less time to recover. IMO.

I always top at the second internode and if you want to top again go for two more internodes on each top.

How is that? You cut the main in both a top and fim (fuck I missed). You didn't miss the main!

With a top, you get two new mains, with a fim, you get 4 new mains.

Yes, fim is less traumatic than a top, they say.
