Topping & cloning help

I am going to top for the first time ever, What should i do with the tops i cut? Cant i add them to some light warrior ?
Also i heard i can put the cuttlings in total darkness for 36hrs to try and force sex.Is this true? anyadvice on what to do with my cuts and how to plant them Thanks
