Topping in flower

Just looking for opinions and experiences.

2. How’d it play out compared to 1 main cola on a branch (not necessarily the main branch)

It is a serious inquiry. I have done it on a clone ( 1 of 4)
And idk if I got lucky or if it has always worked.
 
No. Never.. It's the wrong time to top.. There is no good reason to top during flower.. If you did I am sure that you will see two new growths, but you are asking a plant to manage more than focus on flowering which is no good.. Flowering deserves 100% focus on flower producrion
 
Honestly if you top to close to flower you are cutting short bud potential. I have had the displeasure of doing it.

Il show you what that looks like.

Miss timed topping. Notice no lengthening of the branches at all.

And yea man that shit is going to be super frosty! Only week 4 1/2 of flower

Took that pic last night. She’s showing the new growth but those budsites are less than half the size of the other tops. I only did it to one top on one plant tho. Got 3 identical clones with her that I only lollipopped. Still waiting on side branching to catch up.. maybe one branch per plant to catch up in height to the others. Gonna lst and fix them up today. Gonna keep all 4 in a 2x2 and gonna give it a more intense light once I chop my other plant down in a week or 2.

Straight up.. Here is the answer.. It can happen, but why would you.. Top during veg and give your girls a chance to bounce back then go into flower

Well, I'd start off experimenting with doing nothing, just let the plant grow.
Every time you cut a plant, you damage it & slow it's growth
Now that may be on purpose, like dealing with height restrictions, but it will reduce yield, guaranteed.
Also each top increases finish time by a week, at least
Take my advice & just let the plant grow.
If it get's too tall, train it down/LST but just let the plant grow, the plant/you will be better off.
I've manifolded/HST/LST/topped/lollopped/etc and after 30+ years of growing have figured out the best method for the best/most product is simply to provide a healthy environment (food/lighting/temp) & just let them grow.
Keep it simple, that's my advice.

Next time, if you really need to, just pinch below the node and bend the top down. Some of my plants that are slow to veg I don't even top, I just bend the main top over and hold it down with a hook, once the other branches catch up I just unhook it. I would practice the same technique if I had to top in flower. Doing this allows the rest of the branches to catch up without slowly down the plant.

I had only done that for the experience. I was just trying to get a fast forward of what I was in for.
