Topping

When I'm in the veg state, how early should I top my plants?

I was going to super crop, break the branches; and try that method but in mix of super cropping I'd like to top te plants, trim them up a little... I plan to do a 45 day veg period...

Please do give your feedback.

I do both but super crop to keep canopy of different strains consistent. Read uncle bens sticky on topping for 2 or 4 tops. He suggests waiting for 6 or 7 sets of true leaves. It gives u a very nice cutting to clone as well

i personnally top after set 3-5 then again after a few inches or 5 more sets
with crimping i believe in my opinion its best to crimp in moderation and to mix in some lst
look at my journal. i just topped then lst and i crimped each top a week before second topping recently to strengthen the tops

i like to tie down the tops after maybe 3 inches of growth
makes my babies nice and bushy.
i love tying down top branches
just enough to level with the next tallest shoots

lst in my opinion gentlest and best supercropping method.
lol spent one run crimping the fuck outtea the girls and i looked at them and felt like a complete asshole
just my opinion

I'm also concerned since my grow will be in my garage, how I can keep the tent heat down.... I'm thinking of putting 2 small fans in the tent, no good real idea for the rest of the area.... But anyhow once I get to work ill check your journal out and get a feel for what you are talking about.

Oldtime total myth....Topping or supercropping needs to be done at the right stage for best results. Generally 10-14 days before entering the flower room has become the norm. The strain will tell you how long, each will grow slightly at different rates. The key to any of these techniques is to have as many side branches in the canopy zone for max yeild. My one strain cheese takes almost 20 days yet my shark take 7-8 days.

This is one of the reasons for all the arguements on these techniques here at RIU, but if understood is a very good tool to know how to use.

I both top and supersrop..

when they get in about the 2nd or 3rd week of veg I top them...depending on height and rate of growth (I veg for 4-8 weeks depending)
then in week 4 of veg all the way into the 2nd week of flower I supercrop....
those little joints that heal back really add a lot to your buds!
and topping is a nice additive as well..because it gives you 'more main cola'

and take it from personal experience....dont touch the fan leaves.
they serve as the buds main 'energy highway' ... every plant I pruned the fan leaves off took twice as long to flower...
the other benefit of this is that the leaves are a road-map to any occurring problems...if you trim those fans off, you cant see the problem that the leaf would have otherwise shown you...

dont prune ANY!! it's such a waste of resources

Heres a shot of my whole flower room!! This is my first full batch without pruning a single leaf..

and heres a closeup of my most mature White Widow in her 4th week of flower...

...you should have seen how pitiful all the plants turned out that I had pruned...what a waste!!

Top every time a terminal bud is formed. Stop one week before flower. As for (super cropping) I think you mean L.S.T bending of branches. I've done them both and only reccommend topping the plants this usually will help them bush out enough on their own. If not pull them out so they receive enough light. Breaking the branches does make the stem thicker but also if u do that wrong u can creat disease or risk losing the whole branch. By just topping they will spread out your canopy anyways. Once that bud builds in flower watch her spread out under the weight of buds. With l.s.t when I pack on weight they don't seem to hold straight up I usually have to support them. Either way is pretty much doin the same but personally preference top top top top ever timeu top is 2 more nodes that start terminal bud.

Not every strain responds well to topping... you can FIM them, meaning pinching out the growth atthe top before it is completely opened up-- very young, after 3rd or 4th set of leaves... this forces branching... but again, some single-cola strains will not respond well... Tying is better than topping because the plant doesn't stress, or slow growth in order to heal her damage. PM me if you want a link to a couple detailed step-by step guides.

lol, it's a plant..not a person...
techniques like this have been used for ages on many many different plants..
each bent/broken branch heals and forms a stronger bond which also makes a nutrient hub for extra production...
stronger branches lead to more strength to hold up monster buds!!
and an even canopy leads to more consistent bud sizes....

all wonderful benefits...
and it never ONCE slowed my growth!!
in fact... it made my White Widows grow like MAD!!

spare the rod...spoil the child!!
