Topping

I expect that u know what is "topping".
.. read this.

"Depending on the strain and the growing environment, the 'topped' plant may produce two small top colas instead of two big ones. Also, each strain has a threshold for bud production that cannot be improved upon because it is a genetically predetermined factor. On the other hand, some plants when fully grown without topping do not reach their threshold. The strain Blueberry is a good example of this. If you grow Blueberry without topping you won't achieve maximum bud production from that plant, but if you top the Blueberry, you will. Other strains aren't so flexible and the two top colas will simply share the same volume of bud that a single cola would have produced on the same strain."

Does any of u have had some good results with this method?.. and what was the strain?

(it would be great if u have some pics to add)

Ok. Ummm...yes I agree that some strains do not prefer topping but I have found most of my plants have loved it but not all :)

I often top more than once so get more than 2 top colas.

When it comes to topping, i noticed sativas love topping, and they grow huge colas. Indicas on the other hand are not as great. This is my experience so, maybe somone else could have a different opinion.

Yes I am not sure but I find this to be truw also.
I haven't grown a lot of strains but the ones that were primarily indica weren't too found whereas the mixes worked far better

Good point ;)

Almost the opposite for me my indica did very well when it was topped. My sativa didnt do as well. I comes down to genetics I would assume. Some will always do better than others.

That's the result I got...The taller Sativa grow the two colas but seemed less chunky than the bushier Indica , but as Lacy states....it's in the genes..plus I believe that it's a random sort of outcome...some take well to topping and rapidly grow stem and some take more time....I've even had plants that just grew leaves and grew bushier as opposed to taller..

perhaps, I don;'t have enough strain knowledge to know for sure but it is VERY interesting

I'm going to try multiple cutting for one of my plants.....she seems to want to do the bush thing....My taller Jamaican plant is for the LST thing....If it would just stop raining so I can get it into the proper pot for training......stupid rain !

Thats the thing I want to try with a couple...In the FAQ there's a spiral trimming method to open plant center, and with multiple topping.....it's just a don't freak out the plant thing now..

I would not top them 7 times. I think that is too many.
but you could experiment and see.
Just remember that each time yoy top you are stressing the plant out and it will be stunted for a certain amount of time.
You can top twice the 2nd time etc as it grows.

and one more thing. people usually top their plants after 3-5 nodes. but what if I top it after 10 nodes?
