Total newbie - Grower from India, not many supplies

Hi everyone, this is my 1st post here, but i have been stalking rollitup pages since a long time.

Recently one of my mates gave me a white widow sprout & i had to plant it right away.
The only thing in my setup is a 35W ~ 2400Lumen CFL & a fan :/.
Is this CFL enough for 1 plant? or should i get more?
I am also worried about the smell, i live in India & carbon filters are very expensive/hard to come by here. I am going to build one from scratch soon.

35w is not enough for a grow. think about a 300+ watt led instead. carbon filters are ez to make....and on a side note...i just loved LIFE OF PI:)

A 35w would be fine you may not get a huge yield out the plant. Best bet would be to have about 3 cfls just to be safe. And carbon filters can be made for around &10-$30 berry easy to make

The 35w will be ok to veg for a couple weeks but you will need to add more light soon. Keep the bulb about 1-1.5" from the plant.

I think it is a risk/reward decision, if you don't give it enough light as dannyboy recommended the reward won't likely justify the risk.
You could do alright with 6-8 bulbs like you have if you don't veg it too long and keep the bulbs close without temps getting too high.

i'm a newb too, i just investeted 5$ while building mine, a rubbermaid tote,a ext. cord, car window reflector, using 3 cfl's (2300k ,13w 210milliamps)might go to truevalue after reading and add one more light bulb.

There is info on this website or online about do it yourself carbon filter, it does look pretty easy. Can you order any grow gear from Europe? Good luck with your grow!
