Total Noob move..contaminated grow room..HELP!

I had my first grow moving right along, had beautiful plants in flower. However I was still working on my room and stayed in too long working on the Veg room. Light pollution in the flower room caused Hermies and I noticed tonight that many of the sacs were empty...AAAARgghhhh. I bagged the whole crop, hydroton, and pots. Man that hurt cutting those things down. Expensive lesson....now what? Bleach the room top to bottom? clean lights inside out? How Over do I start Over?

First off im sorry for your loss... Iv had late hermies in the past. Im normally up close and personal with my girls a few hours a day so I see bananas fairly quick. If I do happen to see one I pull her and just mix up a cap full of bleach into a spray bottle with water and give all the walls a lite mist.(better safe than sorry) If you think you got a full pollination I would certainly give everything a good cleaning. Having no ladies in the room you might aswell. I would wash your prefilter or change it on your air scrubber. Looks like your lights air sealed to the outside but the door is adjacent and open so that kind of a gut call.

Thanks for the reply...the door that is open goes into my veg and clone room. Fortunately it was empty at the time. I have an inline 6 inch in that room that exhausts into the flower room aimed at the scrubber. I will wash the prefilter along with everything else. I just finished converting my tables to Botanicare in the flower room...a 3x3 and a 3x6. I just changed my res to fresh and it had gone through 3 cycles. Guess I will call that a loss as well and redo the water. I am usually out there every day, but had to make a trip for work and when I came back, OUCH! A huge learning experience the last couple of months. I should have had both rooms done before I started, but you know....best laid plans and all.

I probably should have let them finish...I didn't have anything to go back in, but I panicked.....Another lesson learned too late....coulda stocked my seeds for the future...well, that is why I am here, to be schooled. Thanks.

personally i think you were right for pulling all of them! airflow could move that pollin around your hole house with just a decent wind current. then you take a chance on getting on your clothes, shoes hell even your hair brush. then you go back into your room 2 weeks later and accidently pollinate your room again do to you scratching your head! Pollination is only good for controlled breeding. besides that you dont want to start any new females that could preflower in your veg only to be pollinated by your flower room. youve already stated your transferring air between the 2 rooms. seed stock would have been nice but really worth the risk? not in my opinion...

Which brings up the question, how long is the pollen viable. I am in process of doing a surgical clean in both rooms. Everything from ceiling to floors, all res tables and tanks. My air scrubber prefilter is in the washer as I write this, along with all clothes, including my shoes. I am starting my next set from seed, but I am doing that remotely. My grow was in the garage, seperate from my living space. I am germinating in my house.

Iv kept pollen in apsrin bottles for right at a year that was still pliable for pollination. It was in a closed environment and never opened till use if this help. but im not sure about it already in the air...

Ummm.. take a freaking shower? Just do what I do in-between grows regardless of pollen. To keep it sanitized. I just have a 10% bleach solution in a spray bottle and spray every crevice of my grow rooms between cycles (now that I'm perpetual however it's now monthly) Properly keep sanitized conditions and clean everything pots and all properly and you won't see such crazy pollen takeovers haha

Truthfully, 7 years ago for my first grow. I had a male, didn't realize it was a male until I opened its pollen all over the place. Then without cleaning (I knew shit about shit) I used the same room for my next flowering stage with females. Not one seed.

i find it extremely hard to believe you had a male actually pollinate without realizing and it seeded nothing.

Thank you Mort Fink.
