Transplant during first week of 12/12

Hi All,

I have asked this question before, but was hoping to get additional thoughts if anyone new sees this post.

Specs:
Started from seed. Soil. Been 9 weeks since sprout. Currently in 2 gallon pots. All plants are doing VERY well right now. I just started 12/12 on 11/9.

Question:
Is it OK to transplant from 2 gallon pots to 4 gallon pots during the first week of flowering?

I know I should have done it several weeks ago, but I have been waiting for these special white, square pots to get in at my local store. They just got in, and I will be able to do the transplant on Thursday.

Anyone ever hear of this being done? Any hypotheses regarding negative impacts? Positive aspects?

It seems to me that they are only going to do better because of this, but I could be very wrong and do not want to ruin a good thing because I could just leave them in there.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

The only negative impact I can forsee taking place is transplanting by one who has a careless hand. I've never ever had a plant go into "shock" simply because I transplanted. Go for it.
The only reason I could see that you would want to double the pot size asap is that you suspect with reason that the plant will triple in size during flowering. Otherwise, keeping it in a 2 gallon pot should suffice.

Thanks for the info Babs.

Yea, that is the only reason I am thinking of transplanting. I mean, they have done great throughout veg.. I just would hate for them to not reach their full potential during flowering because they get root bound. However, I know that root production slows and eventually stops during flowering, so it might not be as big of a problem as I think.

I also do not foresee much shock. I checked out the root mass and I will basically be able to pull out the entire pot of soil attached to the plant and just plug it right into the 4 gallon pots. Maybe if the soil fell out and the roots got disturbed there would be shock.. but I figure they will LOVE to get new soil down there.

Anyways, thanks again for your advice mang.

Yea, thats what I am thinking. I use 60% Soil, 15% Coco Coir, 15% Perlite, 10% Worm Castings. pH is prety neutral, so I think will be fine. Thanks for the help guys, good to know a few of you have done the same thing before and didnt have any problems.
