Transplant during flowering help !

Hi all,

Need some expert advice on whether I should transplant my 6 weeks old plant.
This is BM autoflower feminized by Nirvana.
Indoor grow under 4 x 23w CFL plus 2 x12w LED.

Plant grew for around 3.5 weeks and then flowered since 2.5 weeks ago.
Included is a picture of the plant.
It has been growing in a 1 gallon pot filled to the top with soil but after several weeks and watering the pot is now only 70-80% filled to the top.

I noticed roots starting to poke out at the base of the pot. Since this is an autoflower strain, I give it another 3-4 weeks before harvest. Should I still attempt to transplant it at this stage ? Will roots continue to grow further or should I just let it finish in this pot ?

I've read extensively online but the recommendations have been mixed. Some say YES but some say NO. Some say the roots will not grow much during flowering but others have commented on how their plants continue to extend their roots during the flowering stage. Please advice after looking at the picture of the plant.

stunt is very likely due to some issues i had with pH and soil in the beginning of the grow, around 2 weeks old. but eventually it grew OK though the damage is done.

I'm no expert... but some thoughts:

A good transplant wouldn't hurt it, and with so much time still to go, it would help.

The roots will continue to grow, in a general sense... not those roots that have grow out.. light and lack of humidity will kill those... but the plants roots over all will.

Follow good transplanting guidelines and you should see some great benefits.

Thinking outside the square..ive had a wine or 6. Could u place the pot onto a bag of potting soil that has a pot hole cut into it.
Plant wont stress like it would in a transplant but still get to grow her roots and be happy?

was thinking of that too. cutting the bottom of the pot and placing it into more soil just in case it gets bound. if not i can just use the soil below for the next batch anyway.

Ok, that would sort of work... it's sort of what happens if you use a fabric pot on top of soil.. roots go through the bottom and into the ground.

BUT...

Rootbinding will still be occurring inside the pot.

Honestly, transplant shock isn't that common or big a deal if you transplant right. Cross my heart.

Your plants will slow a little bit... that's all, and the benefits out weight that by far.

Want to minimize the shock? Do kind of what you suggest,

Prep the bigger pot you're transplanting into by putting down a bit of gravel for drainage and then a bit of soil, loose set... give enough room to for the height of your old pot (I'd say plus 2 inches)

Put your old pot into the new pot then CUT THE OLD POT OFF from around the plant (I use fairly thin walled pots... kitchen shears slice right through)... make sure to tilt the plant and slide out the bottom of the pot, or it will prevent proper drainage.

Fill the soil around the plant. Keep it loose, just tight enough to keep the plant from falling over.

Unorthodox but effective.
