Hi first time for me that i will grow autos outdoor,i will put them for harvest them early until my fotoperiod is ready...I want to try not transplanting them so i read about a method that you cut a party cup bottom and place it half way down in your final pot so you don;t need to transplant...
Anyone have do this method?Does the root ball will have problems?Any other tips for no transplant?

I Dont mean to come off arrogant, but I feel using medium sized peat pots is way better than party cups, especially for pre transplanting.

Some people say peat pots can mold up, but I have no luck with party cups.

I poke holes all over the peat pot, so the roots can explore if they want.

I fill my large container with my long-term soil, then I insert the peat pot in the middle. Next I fill the peat pot with seed starter soil, and its off to the races.

Lots of people do it just in the final pot. I like to think this helps seedling's roots ball up. The peat pot will biodegrade and your roots will push through.

I always plant in the pot I am going to grow in no sense in stressing them for any reason IMO

I also don't like the tier method looks kind of unstable for the plant IMO

I plant direct in a 15 L airpot once, after the seed sprouts, get them on their way asap.

Ok thanks for the replys, why you don;t have lack with party cups?i think to cut the bottom like the picture

the party cup is for start the seedling and with this system you don;t need transplant because it is already in the final pot. I never done this but it looks ok...If i start my seedlings in 11lt pot will be to hot for them and also it will make problems with watering?I always transplant 3 times in my photo-period but with auto is my first time...
In picture as you see you water only the party cup in first 2 weeks and then continue to pot, also you can put different mediums so in the party cup will be lighter for seedling.

People do this with good success but if you look at your diagram you can see the plant will be latterly hanging by its roots.

Also the roots in the cup that spread horizontal will be restricted for no good reason at all.

If your worried about your seedlings in hot soil dig out a handful in the pot and fill the hole with seed starter, its called the "plug method"

With a peat pot, none of those things are an issue, op.

I'm not saying peat pots don't have thier own drawbacks, but they're made for plants. Not getting drunk.

cut a party cup in half top to bottom put the two halves in another party cup ...... when it comes time to trans plant remove the outer cup and the two halves ..... personally i just put a handful of seed starter in my final pot ..... lately ive been planting in a normal party cup with holes in the bottom and i just let it dry up for a day or so before i tap it out and replant it

final container ....... if its watered properly ,party cup tends to stunt them a bit...... it will still yield ....... but its just not the same

and when i water the final container i just keep the area the seed was planted in moist ...... some people say to water around the edge so the roots have to search for water ..... the way i see it is since the tap root is also looking for water why not use it to your advantage and help it grow straight down instead of out to the side like most of them try to do anyway

Hey tek what do u think about topping? I read both sides some say do some say don't..

I water seedlings with a spray bottle( on mist,) much easier on the little guys.

I don't overwater that can stunt them so lift the pot and check the weight and that will determine if it needs water heavy pot leave it,If light give a drink, I don't water till run off as I am using organic soil and don't want to lose my microbes.
