transplanting from peat pots

I have about 11 plants growing in peat pots right now. They're getting about 3-4 inches tall now...but still only the first 4 leaves. I want to transplant really soon.

Can I just put the peat pots directly into the soil of the new pot?...and also, whats a good universal pot size to transplant into?

i don't know about the peat pots but I can tell you 3 gallon pots are going to do the trick for you most of the time. remember one gallon for every foot of growth. i'll look around and see if I can find the pot information for you.

Using Peat Pots

Peat pots can be buried whole in the soil in new container.... you can bury the peat pot well below the surface of soil in new container, the stem can be buried right up to just below the cotyledons....this will help produce strong, sturdy, stocky, stems.......
3 gallon is a very good "universal" size container.

I just transplanted them into 5 or 6 inch pots...and once i see them getting kinda cramped, ill transplant to a 3 gallon. I'm just starting them indoors, so i can guarantee somewhat decent growth outside. And also...it's been about 9 days since i planted the seed...and they're about 4 inches tall now...how much longer will it be before i see them start growing wider, rather than just straight up?
