Trich Photos - Almost Ready?

So I have made a few posts on here and my last one was about a week ago. I wanted to do another just to see if I could get a little more help. I got my USB microscope today (not great quality but only $13, that said, still a bugger to try and get it to look right). Took a couple photos and here they are. I see quite a bit of amber, but also some clear I THINK. Since this is my first go and not having an excellent quality scope, I can't tell if they are milky or clear. This is off park of a leaf and a tiny piece of bud I snipped while getting my "specimen" lol. Any opinions would help.

Thanks

You could definitely chop now, but I would let it amber up a little more if it was mine. I shoot for 10 to 15% amber on most strains

I think since we are going to have good weather this week I will let it go another week. It is only at 50 days! And is definitely some sativa Dom plant. If it was raining I would consider pulling today but I will let it go. If the forecast changes I think I will chop.

If thats a sativa dom it's either the holy grail or something happened to make it start ambling. Regardless I'd be flushing for sure if it was mine. I too go for the 10-15% amber usually flush at 80% milky / 20% clear. After a few runs I got my plants scheduled out… i.e. I no longer guess when to start flushing I know the day.

Just a little tip, always harvest your plants BEFORE turning on lights. The moment lights come on, the plants start to pump chlorophyll, hormones, and nutrients up into the buds and leaves, which can extend the curing process or make the buds harsher than expected. Easiest way (in my opinion) is to chop the base of the stalk first, THEN turn the lights on and begin normal harvest, that way the plants aren't able to pump anything anywhere when the lights come on.

But other than that your trichomes look absolutely perfect to me. Today or very early in the morning tomorrow would be best in my opinion.

@grojack I have had Amber in the tricks for two weeks now, but I only had Amber and very noticeable clear trichomes, nothing I would call milky. I don't know why, but that's how it was. Maybe I did happen to stumble upon the holy grail lol, but im about 100% positive its sativa Dom since it is 4 and a half foot tall and the fan leaves scream sativa. Buds aren't as big as I would like but they aren't tiny either. I would say the main kola is about a half dollar in circumference. Quite dense though. Unfortunately the lower popcorn buds didn't really do much and I will probably make some butter with that.

@mstrpkl thanks for the tip. I am growing it outside and it gets light about 630. Chances are I won't be harvesting in the morning unfortanately. I will probably do it later at night, but I don't mind the longer cure either. There just isn't much option for me to do it that early unless it was on the weekend and I really don't want to get up at 6 on a Saturday lol.

Hey, whatever makes you happy man :weed:
But in all reality plants kinda get 24/7 light when grown outside (light from the moon and stars) so im not entirely sure how those lights affect harvest. Guess I should have asked if it was indoor or outdoor first lol

Why not wake up at 6 am and do something you love? Well I guess that's just me....I wake up just to chop and trim just for the smell

It's not necessarily the chopping down at 6 am I have the problem with, it's the chopping it down then doing 4 hours of trimming. I would rather do that at night while having a few drinks or something lol.

And, since it is all personal use, I don't mind the longer cure, in fact, I like the longer cure. I am looking to cure for about 3-6 months.

It's not just the longer cure it makes....it's about photosynthesis when lights turn on and the starch it brings up into the plant when the lights come on

Hmm, well I will look into it then. I have read a lot of conflicting posts about the chop before light since this morning and reading your post, some for it and some against. I figure it can't hurt to try, it all just depends on if it is convenient too. I have neighbors and a business on one side of me lol. I also don't really have room to dry the whole plant so I have to cut branches. Not positive where I am even going to do this yet. Have a garden shed I might be able to use and hook a fan up out there, but really don't want the chance of much scent getting out.

No room to dry, what about something like this (jumping to cell to add pics)

This isn't a bad idea, and I have an extra computer fan that would probably work ok for that. I will look into doing that. Thanks again

Yea, I am dealing with the opposite right now. I just started a new seed (lowryder #1) and I can't get the humidity above 30% in the box. Not to mention 90 degree temp. So I bought a little mini humidifier today on amazon and hopefullyy that will help for veg. In flower i wouldn't be too worried. BUt that is a little low even for flowering. Not too excited for growing a lowryder, but I have a pretty small growbox and only growing with CFL lighting and I heard that lowryder a do well with CFL. I just hope to get more than a quarter off a plant LOL.
