Trichs. < %1 amber, 25% cloudy, 75% clear. 2 weeks?

Hey, just got a scope and looked at the trichs on my oldest plant. Trich color percentages are in the thread title and are obviously estimated.

Just a few amber trichs in random places. Autoflower at about 9 weeks.

I will check again next week, but how fast do trichs normally change?

not knowing anything about the plant, i would guess a few days less than two weeks. pics make things easier. GL

I can take a pic of the plant if that would help, but not the trichs. :)

Vision Super Skunk auto. She has really been eating her fan leaves the last 10 days, and has quite a few amber pistols. She's not a high THC strain, so not a huge amount of trichs.

Trichomes can change fast on some strains. I've looked one day and was 1% amber and the next day 30%. Check more frequently the closer you get imo.

A lot more trichs show up when camera is in macro mode. Could just be my bad eyes as well. :)

I'd say a week to two weeks depending how you like it and how fast that particular auto matures. Just keep a close eye from here on out and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Thanks. The funny thing is she is still putting out some new pistils. But I have read that some strains will finish with quite a few "white" pistils.

First grow, so it's all a learning experience. :) I for sure have to wait a week from today. Family commitments yada-yada-yada, which may not be a bad thing. Will keep me from getting too excited to start the next phase and jumping the gun.

That is a very nice looking auto, man. Where abouts did you get the seeds from?
And from what I've read you want majority cloudy with the least amount of amber possible.

Herbies, but I believe most of the suppliers carry that strain. I picked the strain because it was recommended for a "beginner". She is no huge producer or high in THC, but I do like the way she has turned out.

She has a younger sister that is 2-3 weeks behind her, but bushier with more what I would call "major" bud-sites. :)

Give her a little more time for sure. :blsmoke:

I'm kinda funny in the head perhaps, but I like to watch trichome color but also look for what I call the last frost. I've found that many strains push out a last big layer of trichomes right near the end. Then I watch for trichome color. Otherwise I would have harvested two or three weeks early in some cases. I have had plants that were looking like yours, starting to change to a little amber but then a week later it puts on trichomes that put the existing ones to shame. It's then that I start judging trichomes for color. Does that make sense? I think many growers harvest early by watching "baby" trichomes changing colors.

It's harder with autos or strains you have no clue how long they really need to flower or when flowering technically started. You need to get to know a strain to squeeze the most out of her.

So, I say watch it and unless you see a large percentage of amber, see if she pumps out a last frost. ;) BTW - Don't flush or you will deprive her of food, severely limiting the last frost potential. Good luck and keep us posted.

And go ahead guys, rib away for my terminology, I got thick skin. :dunce:

P.S. I have my PC on the net now! Screw that stoopid Samsung keyboard and no mouse. :hump:
Had to change carriers to tether without blue screens.

Thanks Snaps. It's all good. I like hearing everyone's ideas. I didn't even know she had that many trichs until the camera picked them up.

Any time you see any amber, cut
^^^I agree with this. I hate couch-lock weed and prefer to harvest while amber is minimal. Sure you lose a little weight, but it's minimal. And remember, the trichomes are going to continue to change even after you chop. I guess the bottom line is that it depends on what type of high you prefer. If you're not sure, cut a bud off now and dry and cure it and wait on the rest then do a smoke comparison and you will know next time.

Not a bad idea. I've been wanting to sample anyway. :)
