I enjoy reading trip reports most of all. Just reading a detailed trip report makes you trip a little yourself. Other than that Trainspotting is a nice one and Indecision is also nice (goes a bit slow at times but over all a nice book).

Be Here Now - it's by Ram Dass a.k.a Dr. Richard Alpert a.k.a Timothy Leary's friend and associate from Harvard University and beyond.
The man used to be Jewish, until 1967 - when he converted to Hindu. How all of that came to be is the focus of the book (among others things).
There are a couple other follow up books of his I haven't read yet. He has numerous books published, but the ones I am referring to are Still Here (2000) and Be Love Now which was released just a few months ago.

Well I dunno if I'd call it "trippy", but Ubik by Philip K. Dick is certainly out there. In the book, set in the future (well technically the past since the book was written in 1969 and is set in 1992) the use of psychedelics, amphetamines, and tranquilizers, is commonplace and considered normal. Especially amongst the psychic characters who use it to enhance their abilities.
That's the only book of his I've ever read, but I hear they are all pretty strange. If I'm not mistaken, the movies Blade Runner was based off one of his novels.

You know that book was banned for a short period when it was released. What too graphic for that time, and still is. It's a read that ties your brain in the most tangled shoe knot!

haha funny someone mentioned naked lunch... that book really is fucked up, but a good read nonetheless.
I just finished reading the first 3 books by carlos castaneda... They are absolutely awesome, I'd recommend them to anyone.
The Teachings of Don Juan, A Seperate Reality, and Journey to Ixtlan. Mind blowing and spiritual.

Indeed, Juan Castaneda was a man of his time... its a pity though that I haven't read one page of his many glorious works. Keep chiming in with the good reads

Eh I just started chapter 2 right now as I've had a lot of other work to do recently but it is not overly complicated at all to understand. If you have a basic concept of neurochemicals (serotonin, dopamine, norephedrine, ect.) and drugs (SSRI's, MAOI's, Anti-Psychotics, Stimulants, ect.) it's nothing that would leave you wondering what you just read...I haven't had enough time to read it but so far he has already covered the use/view of psychedelic drugs in the psychiatric community and how it came to the point it is now. If you like to know about psychedelic drugs and their mental/spiritual effects on the brain than it's a book you'll have a difficult time putting down . Also the book obviously has more information than the Documentary of it available on Youtube.

shit they let you read the books there, you never have to buy anything, same with barnes and noble. I read diary of a drug fiend sitting in the middle of an aisle... and dont get me started on george cervantes books or greg green or any of the other pot grow books...
