Trouble Germinating/Sprouting

I have 3 cracked seeds (paper towel method) with a small tap root. I placed them into soil and lightly shifted some soil on top. Well 4-5days later, I sifted that top soil off one of them and the seed looks the exact same, slightly cracked with a tiny little root.

1000w hps - 3-4feet away, sort of shaded by bigger girls.

I normally start them under CFL but could not this time.
should I give them more time or are they bunk?

take your seeds, put them in a warm paper towel ( already wet warm water ) lol, take a nice zip lock or small zip lock bag, blow into the zip locks and place the seeds inside the paper towel and put inside the zip lock and blow in it again leave it some air in the bag, should look like morning dew in the bag make sure its not drenched or soaked in water, now take a towel wrap the seeds in the zip lock up inside the towel and fold fold fold fold fold until you cant fold nomore and rewrap another tower around that towel, nothin special on the second towel and go put them in your closet for a day or day and a half, and then reopen the bag, looks for sprouts and if no sprouts give it some fresh luke warm ( cold warm) new water splashes and rebag rrefold and do again i never had most of my seeds fail unless they were small, white, puny in size or a shitty breeder, dont put the new sprouts right under a 1000w and then say the cups are drying out you dried out the seed it wont pop soil, use a cfl bulb or bulbs per cup and use alittle water once a day moisten the soil do not over soak or soak more then 1 time a day once a sprout is popping! hope this helps

i just reread you cant start under cfl bulb, idk your reason to why but even if you go lowes or home depot and get a light vanity for bathroom 12 dollars and put 4-8 cfls bulbs over the sprouts that make it into the red cup, im sure theyll pop soil quick and within a week or so you can then place under the 1000 watt but i wouldnt go under a week half start until they strong with a few leaves on em

I would pack the soil tighter and keep it moist/wet and keep the heat up.. i germ with a shot glass..just put them in water.

do not pack the soil tighter, you want light soil with perlite in the mix right at the top where you place seed up to 1 inch down or 2 inch down, do a bigger pot and put soil to top of pot, do not compact do not press down do not tighten the soil

From my experience packing the soil causes trouble.

I managed to get my cfl/heater set up running again. Phew. I put them in there, hopefully they will turn around?
..Should I actually take them out of the soil? Or just let them stay in there and hope the better conditions let them thrive?

I usually have a 100% germination rate with the paper towel, when I have proper-viable seeds. Just problem when I'm putting them into the soil... maybe it is too cold? Babies like slightly warmer climates no?

Seeds like to thrive in starter red cup in decently warm climate but enough cfms around the cup can heat the area don't put the bulbs right in the pot and dry it out to quick at all

Having the same problem but mine are outdoor. Was wondering if they eventually sprouted or if you put them back in paper towels or what

if in outdoor you can always start in a red solo cup or a bucket with no bottom, and as the plant grows just place into the ground and roots will continue to spread as if they were grown their, i always like to make sure they sprout in little container before transplanting or opening a bottom of an auto and just placing in ground
