Trouble with Reverse Osmosis Systems

Hey all,

I am having a bitch of a time with a couple of RO systems I recently purchased. I am not new to RO or RO/DI systems due to my reef tank background...I've had 5 systems and have never had a problem until now. I bought two of the iSpring 100GPD with booster pump systems from an online store about a month ago. I hooked the first one up and it appeared to be running well....had about 25ppm output (from 260ppm tap water) for first 12 hours or so along with good flow. After abut 12 hours, the flow began to slow and the ppms started going up. After about 2 days, flow had slowed to a crawl with about 1 drip per second, but the drain line was still flowing strong....ppms were the same as the tap water. Membrane, right? Not so fast. I hooked up the second unit and the exact same thing happened over the next 48 hours. Unbelieveable. I then put in a brand new RO membrane and, again, the same thing happened.

I finally sent the units back and decided to but a Vertex Puratek 100GPD Deluxe...completely different manufacturer, German I believe (Germans are freaks about reefing, so I figured this would be a good unit....also had good reviews on RC and other threads I read). The Vertex is even more plug and play than the iSpring. Hard to believe, but after 24 hours, the same thing appears to be happening...flow is slowing but ppms are stable at 90ppm. I want <10ppms! The Vertex uses a GE membrane vs. the no namer that came with the iSpring. The pressure gauge on the Vertex is reading 100psi, the lights are lit up for "source water" and "water being produced". All appears to be functioning properly. I have approx. 40psi pressure out of the tap, but it can vary as I'm on a pressure system from a well, so I got the units with booster pumps.

I need RO now!!! Please help me trouble shoot!!!

Thanks,

if the pressure isn't correct on the waste water, it will cause the good water flow to be slow. try kinking the waste waterline a little and see if that speeds things up.
