Aleady been there before.
Just picked up a 4.5 GPM @ 800 PSI pump for $300 on Ebay... whoot!!
Seller said it would run well over 150 misting nozzles.
Aleady been there before.
I`ve used fogco and amfog nozzles which are very similar to those in the ebay link. They`re great with RO but very prone to clog when you run nutes through them. You`ll find you`ll get partial blockages which turn the mist into a jet and its all but impossible to unclog them. Things that dont work.. overnight soak in acid, compressed air and water at 50-bar pressure fired through the front to backflush them![]()
So it seems like the best route for a novice seems to be the biocontrols and an Aquatec.
I love the thought of those SS, waiting to hear back on what they tell him on pricing! Even if the cost is sky high, if you need less, and they last longer then that's a win in my book.
To be honest I won't be using this to grow MJ (have a separate grow for that), but used to test a possible business opportunity growing vegetables. Saying that, I don't mind dishing out the extra for the SS unless they are something crazy like 500+ a pop.

Have these ever been mentioned? I imagine they have; aqua aircon sounds so familiar. No micron mist mentioned, but they run on 100psi, which seems less than others that appears similar (I think I've seen 500psi?)
I hate to think that two years ago I could have got all of these fittings and more for free from the company I worked for. If only I knew
Trichy, you mentioned recently about creating your own root chamber? Let me know what you decide. I remember reading it somewhere about using pool liner; I need to better label my bookmarks.
I was initially going to use an old chest freezer, but I would love to make my own; 4ft H x 5ft L x 5ft W as an example.
Cheers,
Thats a big chamber, 8x8? is it going to be MP, HP, RA or AA aero?![]()
Nice- an indoor kiddie pool that makes sure they still get a tanKidding of course, you care to explain more what the plans are? Looks interesting for sure.
The root chambers will be 4X8X1 or 32 cubic foot. The base design will use two Shurflo 100 PSI pumps per rack pushing 45 Teffen nozzles. I am going to experiment with a number of other nozzle types and pressures so the setup may change somewhat.
The lid design is modular ie: you can switch out hole size, placement and number, or go to a 4X8 grow mat for micro greens. The inner manifold will also be modular and can be swapped. So if you don't like the Teffen nozzles, no sweat.. just swap the nozzles, or change the manifold.
If you are growing micro greens, you can do a three tray stack. I'm going to be growing Basil for our demonstration.
My goal is a MSRP under $6K (commercial system, heavy duty built), but the system is designed to be used with a separate nutrient system as there are no reservoirs, the system will be drain to waste.
For an idea of ROI, this system should be able to grow 32-40 lbs of micro basil per month.. micro basil is fetching about $32 per lbs.
A different pic..

Looks very nice, what made you decide to go HP hydraulic vs. the other alternatives?
Be open to the idea you may be thinking of using too many nozzles here.
Are you serious? For under $100 you can get one more suited to the task at hand that is a 10 gallon tank or more as it will only hold less than 1/3 of that in nutes with all the compressed air providing the pressures you'll need to supply all your proposed nozzles with instant pressure...
