so you don’t see a viable other nominee either, I’m deducing.
Power abhors a vacuum many will try and grasp the brass ring. They can read Donald's court calander too and figure he will be put away by May of 24, plenty of time to get the troops in line behind the new Furher and put lipstick on the pig.

Trump and Obama are a political phenomenon and rare birds, one exemplifying intelligence and real political talent, Trump is the exact opposite, a moron and personally repugnant. Both can inspire their supporters, and both are rare "talents", nobody on the republican side is desperate and stupid enough to give the base what they really want, that takes the likes of Trump! The democrats can't find anybody good enough and the republicans can't find anybody bad enough! I mean Joe isn't young and beautiful enough for the shallow little souls who grew up with comic book heroes.

The field is known and the base is crazy and stupid, so place your bets!
My question to you was simple and specific. Can you name any R contender who stands a chance, even a small one, of carrying the general election in a bit over a year from now?

The answer format is very simple. Your choices are

yes (name)
or
no.

Any of them after Trump goes away and is forgotten, most likely Desantis, it depends on if the price of gas goes up a dime. I think Biden will win and the republicans will pick a dog, and be weighed down by Trump, scandals and shit policies like abortion. The problem is the large number of right leaning independents and there are a lot of former republicans among them that Trump drove out and a fresh face might bring them back. I like Joe and think he is the best choice for America by far and one of the best presidents since FDR IMO. However, I'm mystified and concerned about his polling numbers and democratic discontent. He is old, but mentally sharp and fit, he can also leverage vast experience in domestic and foreign matters, he is a wise and steady hand when America needs one the most.

Colorado Judge REFUSES to dismiss lawsuit to disqualify Trump from running for president

36,420 views Oct 13, 2023 #TeamJustice
As all of American saw on January 6, 2021, Donald Trump inspired, incited and engaged in an insurrection. Moreover, Trump continues to give aid and comfort to insurrectionists by, among other things, promising to pardon those who attacked the US Capitol if he is re-elected.

Now, a Colorado judge has ruled that a lawsuit seeking to disqualify Trump's name form appearing on the presidential ballot in that state can move forward. Judge Sarah Wallace denied Trump's attempt to dismiss the lawsuit, and scheduled a trial for October 30th.

This video discusses the 14th Amendment's disqualification clause and how there are several paths to disqualifying Trump form holding office in the future.

Judge Chutkan to decide whether to impose gag order on Trump to protect witnesses/promote fair trial

35,563 views Oct 15, 2023 #TeamJustice
Donald Trump is on Pretrial release in four felony cases, including a federal case in Washington, DC, for his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. On Monday, October 16, District of Columbia federal court judge Tanya Chutkan will hold a hearing on Special Counsel Jack Smith's motion seeking restrictions on defendant Donald Trump's speech and posts to protect the witnesses, to prevent Trump from poisoning the jury pool, and to preserve the people's right to a fair trial.

This video discusses the Supreme Court precedent that allows a trial court judge to impose restrictions on a defendant's speech - without running afoul of the First Amendment - to prevent a defendant from saying things that would "pose a substantial likelihood of prejudicing" court proceedings.

Trump rails against Jan. 6 case as judge weighs potential gag order
A federal judge is set to hear from lawyers for former President Trump and the Justice Department after prosecutors asked for a “narrow” gag order that would bar Trump from attacking witnesses and others involved in his election interference case.

The gag order is designed to address what prosecutors called “disparaging and inflammatory” remarks about nearly everyone involved in the Jan. 6 case, comments they say could taint the jury pool and intimidate witnesses who might be called to testify against Trump.

The former president, who will not be present for the hearing, lashed out on social media ahead of the event, including making false statements about the extent of the gag order.

Trump said the order is trying “to silence me, through the use of a powerful GAG ORDER, making it impossible for me to criticize those who are doing the silencing, namely Crooked Joe Biden, and his corrupt and weaponized DOJ & FBI.”

“They want to take away my First Amendment rights, and my ability to both campaign and defend myself,” Trump added in the post on his social media site.

The order actually would allow Trump to criticize President Biden as well as the Justice Department, though the department asked that the gag order limit Trump’s potential attacks on the team of special counsel Jack Smith.

It also allows Trump to still talk about the case, including proclaiming his innocence.

In making its case for such a gag order, the Justice Department cited a number of comments from Trump, including remarks in late 2020 when he attacked those who challenged his case that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. Prosecutors also highlighted a series of comments Trump has made targeting witnesses, prosecutors, and the judge overseeing the Jan. 6 case.

“Since the indictment in this case, the defendant has spread disparaging and inflammatory public posts on Truth Social on a near-daily basis regarding the citizens of the District of Columbia, the Court, prosecutors, and prospective witnesses,” Smith’s team wrote in a motion asking for the order.

“The defendant knows that when he publicly attacks individuals and institutions, he inspires others to perpetrate threats and harassment against his targets,” they wrote.

The issue will be weighed by Judge Tanya Chutkan, who Trump has also repeatedly disparaged, including in his Monday morning post dismissing her as partisan.

If the SCOTUS disqualifies him in December his legal "statues" will change, indeed a decision is expected in state court by Nov 23 and perhaps by the Colorado state supreme court by Dec 1st. If the state court disqualifies him, I doubt the SCOTUS will reverse them and reinstate him considering the constitutional requirement to do so and the case against him based on plenty of evidence.

After that Donald won't have as much latitude or be able to bring up the election in any way since he is not a participant in it. Maybe she should also include intimidating and threatening members of congress in her order.

I'm really starting to like this DC Judge...talk about taking no shit from someone....

"CHUTKAN to Lauro: "Mr. Trump is a criminal defendant. He is facing four felony charges. He is under the supervision of the criminal justice sytem and he must comply with the conditions of release. He does not have the right to say and do exactly as he pleases." "

March court date stays, DC Judge is working on the gag order.......fingers crossed

Trump ‘does not have the right to say and do exactly what he pleases,’ Judge Chutkan says, issuing gag order
When he is disqualified his fictional legal "statues" will change to that of regular citizen. Provided he makes it that long without fucking up because bad news is bound to excite him and he's gonna get a lot of bad news.

“This is not about whether I like the language Mr. Trump uses,” Judge Tanya Chutkan said. “This is about language that presents a danger to the administration of justice.”

“His presidential candidacy does not give him carte blanche to vilify public servants who are simply doing their jobs,” the judge added.

Chutkan noted that any violation of her orders could result in sanctions.

okay taking bets on when he's gonna break the gag order and get sanctioned and or if it's to bad jail????
He might tone it down he's scared and in survival mode. He has so much trouble coming from so many directions he must be getting punch drunk, but the real pounding has yet to begin! Getting disqualified might cause a major blow out and violation of the judge's orders though! I keep thinking about Christmas at Mar A Logo with his two codefendants in Georgia found guilty around then or before and others pleading out. The NY tax case should be done then with perhaps a $600 million or more bill and the receiver selling his properties and very much into his finances. Then on top of that he gets disqualified from running, all of it together at once like that might make poor Donald flip out and say something rash! Merry Christmas and then there is the most unhappy Newyear that should end with him in a crowbar hotel of some kind after enduring legal Hell in multiple courtrooms. Get popcorn...

The box Donald is in is getting smaller and if the courts start disqualifying him in November, then December will be an interesting month as the SCOTUS makes the final call. If he is disqualified, then political and campaign considerations will no longer be a factor in his prosecution and incarceration. Losing his property in NY and being disqualified should make Donald dance and howl, and maybe even be evicted from Mar A Logo.

Many people expect Trump to be jailed before trial because he will fuck up the conditions of his release and will be provoked into by others and events. As the judge said, any other defendant would be in jail right now if they were indicted for the crimes and acted like Trump, and if disqualified, he would have no political protection or platform and be merely "popular" among idiots.

After Trump is disqualified, it will be much easier for the judge to jail him, and he might be disqualified in by the end of November in Colorado and the SCOTUS should not sit on it for very long and I think they will disqualify Trump.

Chuck Rosenberg: What happens when Trump almost inevitably violates the gag order?

If jailing Trump is such an issue, how will they imprison him? The secret service detail is not an issue with Trump sitting in a cell, they can greatly reduce the size of the detail and expense since the jail walls will provide most of the security. There are plenty of federal detention centers around DC that can accommodate Trump pretrial. It's the same for locking the cocksucker up in prison and besides, if the democrats gain power, they will remove secret service protection from all federal prisoners in custody by changing the law in 2025. He will be guarded by federal prison officers in a special wing anyway, so save some money.
