TRUMP CONVICTED

He fears Chutkan like the Lord for a reason and from what I can see his trial should be over in 2 months and I expect a ruling on his stay of proceedings, if not immunity soon. Such cynicism is unwarranted IMO, he has a bad case for immunity and disqualification, but this stuff is still just a matter of opinion and the legal pundits have been busy. I would expect the stay to be dropped at least and the trial to proceed. If the trial is stretched out, it will be during the primary and election season with a verdict coming well before the convention. The public has the memory of a gnat and the closer to election day shit happens to Trump the better I figure.
Yep. Trump should go to jail soon. He should. That would only be right.

I'm not saying he can never run out of appeals and delays in justice. The road ends in two to ten years. Or when he dies of natural causes.

I don’t think I’ve seen you provide a definite analysis to back this opinion. I would not mind being convinced in a way that bare statement doesn’t.
The longer he is in the running the harder it will be for his disciples in the race to gain support and more of them will drop out, the less trumpian candidates will be condescending their supporters in the same time. Ie she closer to the election the shit hits the fan the better for the American

If he vapor-locks before conviction and sentencing, he’ll have robbed the republic one last time.
yep, not only would his death rob us of closure but also leaves us with open issues that the next fascist leader will exploit.

I'm beginning to think that Congress needs to claw back some power that they have been conceding to the presidency. The president has grown too powerful. It's fairly certain that Nixon resigned because Republicans were willing to join with Democrats to impeach and remove him from office. As Trump has shown, the bar for impeachment is too high.

One my points is he has already exhausted many grounds for appeal etc before the trial even begins and one reason why the appeals court took the case is to settle the immunity issue, but also to end the stay for his DC trial, perhaps while they mull over immunity, but that seems cut and dried too. In any case I think they will drop the stay in DC and that seems the most important thing, since the immunity is a done deal. Even if he appeals to the SCOTUS, it will be after the trial and verdict and unlikely to result in his release from jail awaiting sentencing.

If the appeals court denies Donald's stay he goes to trial in DC and if they say he is not immune Donald will appeal to the SCOTUS. They are unlikely to hear the case until after his trial this spring or summer. They will need to rule on his disqualification soon and it might be best, if they disqualified him, to wait 6 months before dealing with his immunity appeal, after he is sentenced. They should lean on the amicus brief about the asphalt company precedent and space things out. Seems logical.

I hope you’re right. I’m seeing the same entrenched true-believer mindset among Republicans that keeps people in abusive churches.

That Mike Johnson is dangerous. He has the same skullful of vipers other elected maga have, but that aw-shucks “nice kid from next door” delivery lulls many people into not seeing the solid core of dominionism behind it. Dangerous.

Grounds for appeal is turning into the hydra. Sure, there’s a carpet of severed heads, but the beast is not visibly tiring.

The important point here is the precedent of the asphalt case and interlocutory appeals, appeals must logically be heard after the trial and verdict. So, it's back to Chutkan, the stay lifted, and Trump has no immunity. He will appeal it and the SCOTUS will refuse to hear the appeal until after the trial, as per precedent set by Scalia, I believe, dictates.

It's wait and see about Donald's cases, but we can have reasonable opinions on the matters before the courts as do the various legal pundits who explain the law in great detail to the lay public, citizens must make informed choices. The public forum is where discussion of such matters takes place, much of it on TV or online these days. The cases are giving citizens many civics and law lessons and familiarizing them with the constitution that many Americans know about as much about as Latin. Not long to wait and as the time grows shorter so do the possible options and outcomes, immunity appears to be off the table though, even before they make the official call. Disqualification is the big one and the hottest issue, there is a very good case for disqualification and the conservative justices are in a bit of a box over it, according to experts, we will know about that one in a month or so, it is more of a question than Trump's immunity and that can be settled after his trial in DC.
