If I were on trial, I wouldn't want my lawyer shouting "that was a lie" at the jury. Not without evidence to back that up. Compound that with him saying things that require the judge to tell the jury to disregard what my lawyer said. This was a shitty performance but I think it was all driven by Trump's instructions to Blanche.

Blanche mocked the evidence, saying it showed the “unremarkable fact” that Trump was with Schiller. “No kidding? Thanks,” Blanche said sarcastically.
“Is there the same absolute proof of lies for every single thing that man told you?” Blanche said of Cohen’s testimony. “No, there is not. For that we have an oath,” Blanche said. “He lied.”

This is their entire defense. Despite the mountain of evidence, in writing to support the prosecution's case against Trump. Much of it with Donald's own signature on it. Trump's lawyer is resorting to ad hominins and unsubstantiated shout that "he lied". In the world in which I live, people who shout have already lost the argument.

There will certainly be jurors who noticed same. I give high probability of a conviction, with the remainder of the odds going to a hung jury.

Sentencing is the wild card. Perhaps the GOP’s only candidate will have to run from prison.

At this point, the three remaining trials, which are being slow-walked by everyone with a hard-right connection (including Scotus! Taking up the immunity stupidity; really?!)

however they cannot do this indefinitely. That man will have to face the judges, including his puppet in Florida. If she continues this egregiously partisan management of the secret-documents case, I expect (but am not sure that) the Eleventh Circuit or the DOJ [to] kick her into shape or out of this case.
n. b. six of the Circuit’s twelve judges have been appointed by convict, and a seventh by Shrub. These days, “who appointed whom” makes a big difference. Judgeships have been the flagship undertaking of the Federalist Society aka fascism’s midwife.

Stipulating that that man will be convicted by the jury, I anticipate with great anticipation what Judge Merchan will decide is a proper penalty for this most horrifically successful manipulator of the judicial system.

Appeals would go to the 2nd Circuit, with five “my judges” and six Biden appointees (plus one each from Shrub and Obama.)

Trump was "involved every step of the way," prosecution says
Steinglass, his voice hoarse as he reached the conclusion of what he called the "summation that never ends," pulled up a slide entitled, "Mr. Trump involved every step of the way."
It led to a timeline showing many of the instances when testimony or exhibits showed Trump knew of the "catch and kill" and reimbursement schemes.
The timeline stretched back to the August 2015 Trump Tower meeting between Pecker, Cohen and Trump and purported to show Trump's "direct involvement" in at least 20 key moments.
"It's just inconceivable that he would be so involved in buying these women's silence and then suddenly stick his head in the sand when it comes to Cohen's reimbursement," Steinglass said.
Steinglass focused on a series of calls between various key players on Oct. 8, 2016, discussing the Daniels allegations, leading to a call between Cohen and Trump.
"There is just no way — no way — that Cohen wouldn't have told Trump about that during that call," Steinglass said, his voice rising.
He pointed to a Oct. 26, 2016, phone call between Cohen and Trump, just before Cohen began the process of facilitating the wire transfer, saying that Trump again signed off on moving forward.
"Everything required Mr. Trump's sign-off. On top of that, I wanted my money back," Cohen testified.
Steinglass noted that Pecker testified that Trump personally thanked him for his help with the campaign after the election. Later, Steinglass noted, Trump expressed anger at Pecker for letting Karen McDougal out of her non-disclosure agreement.
He then highlighted the "smoking gun" notes tied to Trump's then right-hand man, Allen Weisselberg, and said Trump personally signed many of the checks to Cohen.
"Busy or not, Mr. Trump was not paying these prices for basically no work," Steinglass said, referring to Cohen's testimony that he did very little legal work for Trump in 2017.
"The false business records benefited one person, and one person only, and that's the defendant," Steinglass said.

1/ Important moment in closing re Trump call to Pecker DA: "Trump is deputizing Cohen right in front of Pecker so that Pecker knows that any go ahead from Cohen is a go head from Trump. This call makes it impossible for the defense to claim that Cohen was acting on his own."

2/ Indeed, Pecker spoke about this moment thrice in the trial, and most important one may have been on cross (defense brought it out): Pecker: I said, "I still think you should buy the story." And Mr. Trump said to me, "I'll speak to Michael, and he'll get back to you."

The jury is dismissed for the day.........starts again in the morning.

naw i don't think so, imo i think it will prolly end tomorrow.....in the end we'll see what happens.

WaPo analysis says that, if that man is found guilty, detention is not the likely outcome.
(Trouble is — what other sentence stands a chance of actually getting to defendant?)

(otoh if the judge decides on probation with defined penalties for defined violations, defendant could end up on ice not for the convicted offenses, but for violating the terms of his probation. That would be perhaps a good way to justify real consequences for convict’s own and current behaviors.)

Pecker's testimony was devastating for Trump and the defense team chose to leave it alone rather than try to discredit it and fail.

This guy has been pretty good at calling the outcomes of Trump's winding path of lawsuits, trials, appeals, and SCOTUS rulings. So, I'll post this to feed my and other people's confirmation bias. And for those who have to listen to SOMETHING while waiting for the jury to decide to convict the orange buffoon.
