Ok so I am new to indoor growing, and, as pics will show, have already learned much from 1st grow which I have incorporated into 2nd grow. In my flowering room ( as this seems to be what people bitch most about regarding LEDs ) I have my ghetto panel which has a 120W red/blue LED panel at its center with a 14W all red bloom panel on either side, and the whole thing sandwiched between to doublt tube floros with one full spectrum and one cool white in each floro.
I have to admit that my inclusion of the floros was because I read so much crap about soft airy buds that I became concerned and upon researching, found that all that LEDs lack is decent amounts of the orange spectrum, and so I added the floros. During my first grow I may have inadvertantly stunted my plants due to all the newbie manipulations I attempted while following the advice of one know it all or another on this site. Which brings me to my 2nd grow. Now that I have worked out a system which works well for me, I am having marvelous success with second grow in veg room. These babies are just shy of one month old. In front is an MK ultra, and in back are two blueberry plants. You can see clones off to one side. These plants are under one 120W LED panel, and one double tube floro, and were grown from seeds.
nodes are very close together under LEDs and light penetrates to the very bottom of the plants.
Here are some pics of buds grown under LED/floro combo.
As you can see my buds are NOT light and airy, but firm and compact, AND my whole set up cost less than $500, no ballast, no heat issues, 50,000 hour life, 3 year warranty, and...Oh Yeah!! Electric bill has only increased by $20 a month. LEDs may not be as beneficial all by themselves ( can't say yet, this grow was too important to risk ) but imo they are awesome and make a great addition to grow room light systems.
