Trying My Hand at Breeding

hi guy's and ladies, i have been growing for just over a year now and have few sucsessfull grows under my belt and have now decided to try my hand at breeding. after a few failed attempts and getting alot of males i finally got a female among 2 males. i took out one of the males as it was growing way too fast, the male i kept is nice and short and stocky. im currently growing a white widow female and a white rhino male. they are both 15 days into 12/12. im going to leave both plants in the growroom together and let the male completely pollenate my female. i have added some pics of both plants below for you all to see.

pics 1-4 are the female white widow. pics 5-7 are the male white rhino. the female is 12" tall and the male is 9" tall.

i must say a big thanks to videoman40 and fdd for their tutorials on breeding, pollenating, etc. while reading these tutorials i decided to start my own breeding program. its taken months to get a female plant as i grow from seed everytime. i finally have the female i have been looking for and a nice male to start my own program.

for other pics and info please look at my journal link in my sig.
any info or questions are appreciated.
thanks for looking.

make sure that you thoroughly wash down your entire grow op, that pollen can wreak havoc later on

what made you choose 2 white strains to cross? Just curious..most people look for 2 completely different types of strains to try to have a combination or mix of certain traits..good luck with the project:peace:

Instead of ruining the whole batch of white widow why dont you just collect some pollen and pollinate just the lower stems yourself? That way you won't have hundreds of seeds throughout all of that glorious marijuana.

I believe seed backs cross them for 5 generations before releasing them. You will have to reseed 4 more time to make the strain complete

Good luck with the test. Cant wait to hear the results

yea thats eventually what I want to do..you need a nice amount of space and a few years to truely achieve it. Im tryin to think of a new cross I can make just to get a couple nice F1's to clone out for awhile..to many choices, plus I want to do somethin no one has really done yet. I got excited and started plannin on breedin "kushberry", just to find that its already an available stable strain:-?

hi there hybrid, after this grow i will be moving house and making a completely new growroom so i wont need to wory too much about contamination with pollen spores.

hi jbreeze, im using the 2 white strains because the rhino is a widow cross to start with and i want to stabilize a good white widow for future breeding. at some point i will introduce a different strain into the mix but im unsure which yet. when i find another that i like maybe.

hi texan, since i started the thread i have since decided to just pollenate the lower half of the female and try and keep the main cola for smoking. that way i get the bet of both lol.

hi onlunch, yea man it takes a long time to get the perfect strain, i have done alot of reading about it and im prepared to take the time to do it properly. im fed up getting/buying seeds and they are all different sized plants and pheno's. i want to end up with a uniformly growing plant that turns out the same everytime.

yea man, i had thought about a few other strains before the whites, ill introduce some other strain along the line somewhere to make it my own.

Did you know that White Rhino was a cross from White widow?...you should get some nice genetics outa that.

hi homegrown, yea i know its originally a widow cross, thats why im using it mate. i want to make a stable widow that grows uniformly in height, strength and potency. i will be documenting the progress in my journal if you want to follow it.

thanks for taking the time to ask these questions guy's. i hope i have answered them for you. if theres anything else you need or want to know please check out my journal in my sig.
