Trying out the Boveda 62% big boy to breathe life back into some over dry flower

I way over dried some critical mass and I'm experimenting with the Boveda 62% big $24.95 pack in an effort to restore some aroma and flavor. It's quite potent and smooth but it's so dry there's simply no flavor left and the once strong aroma is now dull.

I popped the pack into a sealed container with about 3 ounces of super dry critical mass buds and a hygrometer. It's been in there about 2 hours now. The humidity is rapidly raising. Once it reaches 62% I will open the container and pull a bud out. Then reseal it while I inspect the flower moisture content and smoke a test bowl. I'll report back results. If all goes well I'll do it on all my dry as a bone critical mass and I'll praise Boveda until the cows come home Here are some pics of the initial humidity and present humidity after 2 hours:

Once it reaches 62% it just means the air in there is at 62%. Doesn't mean your bud is...pull the boveda pack out at 62 and your humidity will probably drop inside. I'd give it more time for the bud to try and reabsorb some moisture before deciding if this works or not. Good luck! I am drying right now and if I fuck it up, I'll be trying this method as well.

That is true. I'll let 'er sit in there overnight in that case and see how she does. I over dried some blue dream that was much more dense and still had some moisture in it so I was able to cure that up nicely. Critical was just bone dry. No cure. No improvement. Yet at least. The BD tasted like shit though prior to a 7 day cure. You'd swear it wasn't even the same bud afterwards. It's the most flavorful and tasty out of all 5 strains I grew now. Wild man. What kind of environment do you dry in? I'm in the desert, shit is rough.

I do this and a QP usually takes around 3 days to properly reach 62 from the 50s. I just use a 20 pack of the 67gram bags. People love the moisture level. That's one compliment I've gotten over and over.

You could always just put some wet leaf in the jar for a bit. Another option is to steam up the shower for like 20-minutes while you leave the jar open in the bathroom, then seal it up and check moisture a couple hours later. Really though, isn't Critical Mass kind of lackluster as far as terps already?

I've noticed that Haze hybrids seem to need a cure more than some polyhybrids do.

If I'm trying to hydrate a lot of bud, or if it's down in the 40s, I sometimes put a cup of water into the bin the first night to speed up the process.

Every time it's mostly a leaf smell going in and room filling terps coming out.

Thanks for the tip! That makes sense using the cup of water. I tried banana slices and bud in a small plastic tupper ware container with a little piece of plastic separating the bud and 'nana. Tossed 'er in the fridge and 2 hours later the bud was almost too moist. I was impressed. A cup of water is a much smarter choice. 'Nana's would mold shit up.

I'll try your cup of water method overnight with some more critical mass. I'll report back with results tomorrow. Thanks again for the great tip!

Just be careful not to oversaturate the buds because its easier for the Bovedas to add moisture than it is to pull it out.

I'll be completely honest here. I feel like it's so effing dry there aren't many terps left. If it improves flavor I'll be happy as can be. If it comes out smelling like hay I sure won't like that. Fingers crossed here man

That's kinda why I was afraid to keep the boveda in all night. It's a very large pack I believe boveda says is effective for up to 5#. It's hydrating maybe 3 ounces. I better check it before I go to bed to get a feel for just how much moisture is being added. I'd hate to wake up in the morning to soggy buds. I've heard from others the 62% can be a bit much and it seems most were using the more common 58% (I think it was 58%). This shit is really dry though so I thought it best to break out the heavy artillery

The Boveda packs won't allow over saturation on their own. That's the magic! Adding a cup of water will override that magic, but it allows for a jump start. Maybe remove the water once you go to bed. But you can leave the packs in for months without problems. The longer the better really.

So you can just leave one of these bovita packs in the jar or tin, and it should hold your flowers at about 60% moisture content is that correct
