Trying this again with legit shit

If you have the room to hang a filter inside and can hang a light without it collapsing then that should work. 5 feet is not a lot of head room tho, you're gonna have to train the ladies aggressively.

My setup uses one fan on top of a filter (which is outside my tent). It pulls air in the tent passively, through my 600w to air cool, and then pushes the air through the filter.

So one end of your cool tube is open and the other connected to your intake? What does that do anything as far as temps in your tent?

Ya exactly, except I just have a hood with a glass insert, not a cool tube. My lights on temps (in a 4x4x7) have been 68-72 and lights off 64-68. To be honest, I disconnected my duct from the light a few days ago. It's getting cold where I am so I put a space heater in my room to run during lights on and bring those temps up a bit. I'm keeping my lights off temps in the mid 60's, trying to coax some purple from one of my strains. My fan is only pulling 300~ cfm.

Wow, I won't have the problem of too cold, but I will certainly try in taking through the cool tube (and hood combo) when I end up getting it. That won't be fit a while though, I'm pretty tight in funds right now but my cfls can handle for a few weeks, as will my box fans. Next step is to set up my DWC system which should be really fun, I'll post pics when I get everything.

for 400w of juice I think ur going to pay approx.$30/mo depending
U could have gone all floro and not had any heat. I've seen some great results from floro grows
If I ever did a tent grow I'd go LED or T5 floro
If the 6" fan creates enough air movement in the tent you won't need another fan. Set it up first then decide.
I've never grown DWC or any other water culture operation. I know quite a bit about soil biology though.
Lookin forward to some pix. I'll stop back.

I noticed today that the roots are starting to sprout out of the bottom of the rockwool so I moved all 5 to net pots, made a half gallon of 1/5 strength nutes and am doing a type of manual ebb and flow (my previous grows were all e&f) until I can see roots come out the bottom of the pots. I dumped the extra from the first batch in the tray so there will be something for any roots that may sprout something to drink until everything is 100% ready to go. Since theres more space between plants, I built a 2 minute cfl rig. I'll probably build one FAR better, bigger rig before my hid gets ordered. I'm running my lights a whole 24 btw, once the hid gets here I'll start cutting it down an hour every two days until I"m at 18/6, reason being that I want to keep stretching to a minimum.

Thanks for stopping by Danny, all of my previous grows have been cfl and yields have been less than satisfactory, decent but I know I could do way better.

Here's some bad pics of the babies :bigjoint:

UPDATE WITH PICS!!

Alright I've done a little shopping, fanagaling, smoking and creating and came up with my little 10 gallon DWC system using 2 fat ass stones. To compensate for putting them in early I stacked them each on another rockwool cube and filled the res with an extra gallon and a half so the water can be wicked up. I only did that because I'll be partying my ass off over the weekend and it's the last time my b day will be on a weekend for 6 years. I just wanted to have something I didn't have to pay attention to at least every 8 hours.

Thanks Chad, I didn't realize just how different this would be from a CFL micro grow. I went over kill with the fan so I wouldnt have to buy another one when I up the size of my tent down the road and since this is being done in the bedroom I'll want to dial it down to reduce noise. I'll definitely look for dyna next trip to the shop. Any opinions on the light I want?
A 600 watt HPS is the most efficient regarding 400/600/1000 HIDs, and would be the most effective for your money. 600s give the most grams per watt. What is your budget for lighting? Sun System LEC 315 watt CMH fixtures are a great option and on par with 600 watt hps yields. Those units run $500, but the last thing you want to skimp on is your light. Those LEC fixtures are extremely efficient and run cooler than HID lighting.

I've been debating between the ipower or apollo, I wish I could get some riu user experience for each

Does the ipower come with a smaller hood? For storage purposes I want to use something kind of compact for when this grow is done.

New update no pics

I'm tired but eager to hear input tomorrow so I'm making it quick.

Wife got tired of light leaks and heat at night from box fans venting into room, so was I to be honest, so I hooked up my overkill fan, ducted it outside, loud as all hell, ordered a speed controller to be delivered in 2 days to reduce some of it.

Scoured Craigslist and am picking up 2 hi-bay 400w MH lights tomorrow for $25 a piece, I part time as an electrician so I can SAFELY convert to remote ballast and will likely pick up an air cooled hood used. Only gonna use one but they're so cheap a backup doesn't hurt.

I plan to pick up HPS's the same way later on, now my main obstacle financially will be my carbon filter which won't be needed til after I buy my HPS. I intend to build a little rubbermaid clone box with the cfls and box fans I already have, flower these early and build another small DWC system and knock out 10 clones, 4-6 branches a piece + top cola for some decent buddage.
