Greetings,
I have an NFT system that uses 5"x5" vinyl posts as its main holder of the plants. However, the problem is that I can't put plants in there until they can reach the bottom of the system to pick up nutrients. I don't want to do DWC on them either because i have found straight nutrient film (very shallow water) is the best. So I was trying to think of a better way to get the plants in the system as early as I can without having to wait for the roots to grow and yet not run into problems with clogging nozzles or expensive nozzles for watering. So the solution I have been toying with is creating a manifold out of sprinkler line to feed all seven grow tubes where the sprinkler hose extends all the way to the bottom of the grow tube. The sprinkler hose would then be drilled with tiny holes so that I get little fountains out of the tube to spray up onto the plants. I was thinking of using the smallest drill bit I could find to drill the holes.
Has anyone tried something like this? If so I would be interested in what kind of results you achieved. Was it hard on the submersible pump or did the pump angle it well? Any hints for making it work well or am I barking up the wrong tree here? Thanks for your time.
