Trying to start an indoor grow.. need advice.

I bought a 400 watt MH light and my biggest question is, if I have it on 18 hours a day what will the electric bill go up a month? im growing candy kush thats autoflowering so when a plant is autoflowering do I still change the light cycle? i was gunna do 18 on:6 off?? and are nutrients that important or are they something i can go without? anything else i should know about my first indoor grow?

electric bill depends on kw per $, my 400hps (+oscillating fan) usually adds about $14/month on 12/12. Autoflowers can grow & bloom on any photoperiod (24/7, 18/6, 12/12). You will need to feed some nutes during their life cycle; no store bought soil can take a healthy girl all the way to harvest. You can buy store bottle nutes, order off internet, use organic teas, or make a super soil. 5 most important things about growing: light, air, nutrients, water, don't tell anyone!

Well, autoflowering plants flower when they've reach maturity, white photoperiods flower when the light schedule changes to 12/12.
you can keep it on 18/6 or 12/12. Shouldn't make a difference.

Ya no doubt! I would keep them on at least 18/6, or 20/4 schedule if u can afford it. def get more growth, than regular 12/12 photoperiod plants. Maybe look into buying a high pressure sodium bulb when they start to show flowers. The red spectrum is better for the bloom phase; or for a cheaper option, you could supplement with some 2700k CFLs (also more in the red spectrum).
