I've been doing quite a bit of research on LEDs lately, and the 357 Mag+ seems to keep coming up as a truly viable substitute for HIDs. Do you think using two regular 357 Mags would produce better results than one 357 Mag+? Having two might be stretching my budget just a tad too much. Great job so far. Can't wait to see the fruits of your labour!
Hey what up rhyzome,
I actually talked to one of the guys from grow perfect (magnum led) and I asked him what's better, two 357 mag in a 4x4 or one 357 magnum plus, he said 1 magnum plus is by far a better choice. U would think it would be the opposite, two small ones too cover more space instead of one bigger one, but I went with his suggestion and I'm glad I did because I eventually upgraded to two magnum plus which is perfect for what I'm doing.
In my opinion it really depends on your size of grow space, if u have a small space go with the magnum plus, it you have a little more space get two magnums unless in the future ur planning on upgrading like I did.
Im happy with my led choice, it's all about the diodes themselves, good proven LEDs have diodes made from, companies like epistar, Cree, and bridgelux.
just remember its whole new game. lower your expectations in terms of weight for your first couple grows, in due time you will be pulling 1 gpw

They are coming along nicely man, it was worth the wait.

As with smurfberries, some strain dont start resin prod until the 6th week, just let her finish and dont rush her and the end reward would be wonderful.

LEDS can grow some really decent bud, it just takes some time to dial them into your grow room.

Peace to all and happy growing.

Hey foreverflyhi,

Thanks for the info! I'm now in the process of finally building my own grow space. I'm just waiting on my grow license at the moment. Other than the occasional plant or two in my backyard, I really don't have much experience. Greg Green's 'The Cannabis Grow Bible', and forums such as this, are a godsend. It's a thrilling prospect to have a controlled indoor space to work with. Outdoor growing can be rewarding, but has it's own set of challenges. Since my grow area is also 4x4, your setup is essentially *exactly* what I'm striving for, even down to the Air Pots. I liked the results of your last HPS/357 grow, but because I only have 5' ceiling height to work with, I definitely want to go all-LED. Seeing the results you've had so far with this grow makes me *really* want to get two Mag+. Damn you for having such a badass setup, dude! ;)

Hey cannabuilding, u r completely right about the wait and late resin production, the smurfberries waited till the last second to show their beauty, I just jarred up my harvest from this grow and I'm going to wait a couple days before I do the official weight and taste test. I'm very impressed, especially with smb3 and nlxbb

Once again cannabuilding u right about it takes time to dial in the LEDs to my grow, im sure in due time i will master it, ram into some bumps but that's all part of the learning experience.
i believe once led growers master this new technology and art, led herb will be known all around the world as the best.
I'm a firm believer that led herb is by far superior to any hps herb! Quote me on that

Word up! I think the best growers are grower who start outdoor, it's all about mimicing the outdoors in your indoor grow (I quote dj short) just remember, ventilation is key to a grow space. And yea I agree abut outdoor being challenging, but never stop outdoor production, stay with ur growing season and during off season grow indoor(or grow yearround with LEDs with a minimal cost) good luck on your space, spend top dolled for your gear, it will be a lot more rewarding at the end

yo yo alright so ive been super busy with other projects,
for one i already started my next personal grow, which i will be documenting (final magnum plus grow journal)
i got a new grow tent and with it i will master the art of cloning and vegging
also i have a beautiful garden in my back yard along with tomatoes, hops, rasberries, corn, a couple monster bud plants :leaf:
and to top all that off, i started another thread on taking apart a shitty led and upgrading it to the max!!!!!!(look it up its in the led section) in the future i have something in mind that will hopefully revolutionize our way of thinking with leds!! (haha im getting way over my head)

before we get into the results,
im not able to take up close pictures, i dont have my other camera on me. so ill be using my iphone

im going to weight each plant indivdually then ill add up the total,
then a taste test and final thoughts

ok so ill start from smallest yield to largest yield

ONE LAST THING (ADD A COUPLE GRAMS TO EACH ONE, I SMOKED ALOT FROM EACH PLANT ESPECIALLY THE NLXBB)

Smurfberry 2

Smurferry 1

Smurfberry 1

total weight in 127.3 grams over a qp not bad for autoflowers!
photo (9).jpg

ok so now to smoking report (bong/papers/blunts)

i would like to add that im one of the most pickest pot smokers there is, its hard for me too smoke weed i dont find appealing, so with that bein said this is my honest truth.

Smurfberry 1 and 2 both came out lookin identical, almost same yield, and both finished in the same time.
when you open the jar it instantly reminds me of blueerry, but with a hint of skunk, they both look light in green with dark orange hairs, crystals are medium, the nugs are densed.
smoke is very smooth(organic), berry inhale berry exhale.
high is a quick head rush, with some what of a relaxng mood(truth be told im always relaxed)
honestly not my cup of tea, i honestly thought this plant was oing to be special, im not very impressed with they way she grows, let alone smokes, i hope some one else out there has a better experience then i did with her.

HOWEVER LET ME GET INTO SMURBERRY 3 !

she was the one that gave me some hope in this grow(along with bbxnl) she completley came out diffrent,
think pungent berry skunk when u open up the jar!
it looks almost blue/purple/ with light green, crystals are medium.
when u break it apart, it has this really sweet pungent smell that just tickles my nose,
when u smoke it, think blue sweetness with a after taste of skunk! BOMB
i honestly think this is due to vital earth(i will be doing a all vital earth grow next), and im sure her genetics where by far better then her sisters.

Northern Lights x Big Bud

she was the best in this grow,
super easy to take care of, really strong grower, i put her thru some stress and yet she came out on top!
when i open the jar i instantly think of old school sweet skunk! and further smelling the nugs i get this almost musky candy skunk smell! hahah
seriously tho, she brings me back to my child hood, when i first started smoking skunk herbs,(and loving the smell of skunk animals!)
i first rolled a joint with her, she smoked really smooth (once agian, organic) the candy skunk taste overpowers all the other smells, same with bong and blunt. i really love this plant, im going to charish her and put her away for cure, she is def in my future plants to grow! im sure if i gave her my all, i would of easly pulled three zips off her! (ok 2 oz)

The magnum PLus once agian pulled off a great harvest, i will be scrogging from now on, i think this is the best method to pull of large yields,
im just a little dissapointed in the smurferries, or better yet im more dissapointed in autoflowers,
i think key to a great product is vegging, these autoflowers dont even veg much, they just sprint into flowering. im sure theres super dank growers outhere with autoflowers, but not for me, but hey live and learn right?
so this will be my last post about this grow (although ill awnser any question/complements/hate)
but not too fear, i have another journal on they way!

Wow man that NLxBB looks too awesome, beyond words :) I've never actually smoked a skunk strain before, all the dealers here have is "purp" and a few sativa strains like Blue Dream. I can only hope mine looks somewhat like that lol. I don't want to hijack your awesome thread, but you seen mine. How much do you think I can get compared to yours?

Nice harvest, foreverflyhi! It's really encouraging to see a good, solid grow using all LEDs. My hats off to you, sir. I keep flip-flopping on comparable brands, such as Black Dog and Advanced LED. To top it off, I recently read that eShine Systems essentially makes Avanced, and may even build the Magnum in the same factory. There's certainly a host of manufacturers out there, and more than enough conjecture and misinformation to go along. Either way, it's becoming more evident, even in the last couple of years, that LEDs are definitely up to the task. I won't even go into Plasma lights, as they're still far too costly, and don't seem to be suited for flowering quite yet. Bravo, and happy growing!

Yea I completely agree and I have to heard that.
After seeing ppl DIY with LEDs, I think that's my future route.
Fuck all the bs with all these companies, u want that shit done u do It your self ;-)

Hey Flyhi...just found this thread of yours! Great grow...Glad to see what you said about the NLxBB too, cos I've got one in the soil now, and it's looking sweet (It looks perfect and green from the top, but is a beautiful purple on the underside of all the leaves!).

How would you recommend training if you were growing it again? I don't want it any taller than 5ft max, and I'm growing in 7 gallons of organic soil.

Truthfully i doubt it will get 5ft, if it does then u hot uour self a freak strain haha

If i here to grow her agian i would let her be and do her thing, shell get about 3-4 ft max

i have avout half o put away curing and getting bomber everyday!
