Haha! Love the argument going on. Please resume. As for the shell, it is going to block light from getting to the leaves and cause developmental problems. You can take it off very carefully, but if you're not careful, you can "behead" it, and have no plant anymore period. This isn't super uncommon Steph187. I'm out of this argument, though I do believe if you're giving criticism it should be constructive, especially on this website. p.s. if the shell doesn't fall off on it's own, and the plant continues to grow, there is a good chance it will "behead" itself.
