ALOR SETAR, June 6 (Bernama) -- The High Court on Sunday sentenced two men to death after finding them guilty of trafficking in 11,135 grams of cannabis four years ago.
Vegetable farmer Ramli Abd Rahman, 36, and civil servant Sulaiman Ismail, 38, had been charged with committing the offence in front of the Kwong Hock Keong Chinese temple in Junjung, Kulim, at about 9pm on May 3, 2006.
Judge Datuk Zamani A. Rahim said the two men were unable to raise a reasonable doubt in the prosecution's case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Wan Nor Hasnita Wan Daud appeared for the prosecution while Ramli and Sulaiman were defended by counsel Subash Hassan.
